16th region starting 5

Featured Replies

What has been a becoming "fad" in recent months is that anytime the 16th region is noted in a thread "alone" talking about 16th teams and players....there is always 1-3 people who jump in take a shot at them and compare them to another part of the state that is obviously "BETTER" than them.

I really could care less how matchup's of players from this region stack up vs. another, and I believe the intent of this thread was to "highlight" those players inside this region and in no-way, shape, or form meant to polarize and place these kids or teams on a stage that is much more significant than other places.

It's nearly to the point of hilarious, comical, and eye-rolling:rolleyes: to the amount of displeasure people have towards basketball players from NEKY.

A few notes....

*Haney playing the 5 spot would perhaps be for defensive purposes only I presume? Offensively he may be the most gifted player throughout the floor that the Cougars have had in a while and there have been many great offensive players. I'll not stretch to the degree of "BEST" but many, many people from the area will note throughout the year of the versatility of Haney

*For Rowan County, 6'7" Blake Pettit is the biggest ? and perhaps the key to huge success for the Vikings. The ability to defend, rebound, and score will be necessary and vital to the composition of the Vikings and ultimately "relief" Daniel and Martin will need throughout the year.

*I concur with Cubster, Wolfenbarker of Greenup County is the region's most underrated player and exception athlete and PG. The musketeers have had a great history of PG's from Boo Williams in the early 80's to Chris Plummer, etc. Wolfenbarker will place his stamp as another solid Muskie PG capable of putting the team on his back and carrying them.

*For the 2nd year in a row, I'll go with Bath County as the team that "should" do better than their record and performance of recent past. Blandon Clemons, Cortez Williams, and Zach Metz are capable enough and talented enough to win games for the Wildcats.

Cortez was the lone senior for the squad.

Will be interesting to see how the New Head Coach (Here we go again) Brian Johnson gets this team to play.

Clemons is a Junior

Zak Metz a Soph

If the Cats can find somone to fill the five spot and move Razor out of the middle to the 4 with Metz at the 3 Clemons at 2 and most likely Aaron Roberts Soph at point they should suprise.

What happened with Coach Morrison from last year? Did he leave on his own or was he shown the door?

He wanted to go back to Tenn to be with his wife. This coach that is here now has been coaching in North Carolina and has some big time AAU team that is ballers. He was going to come last year but timing wasn;t right. He is from the Eastern part and played college ball at Pikeville College Ithink.

Just a reminder before we get too carried away here fellas...

4. No school-specific recruiting comments or allegations of KHSAA rules violations by any school, coach, or player are allowed. No talking about where any player lives, has lived, or where they are from in a recruiting context. This is not the place to report KHSAA violations. Feel free to contact http://www.khsaa.org to report such violations, but do not discuss violations here.

Rose Hill has been scrutinized very closely by the KHSAA since 2001 and to the best of my knowledge, they have done nothing outside of KHSAA rules.

Let's keep this clean please.

I feel bad bringing it up, but remember the fine and probation handed down by the KHSAA involving the Gillum and Leadingham situation......

I hear that the tomcats are going to be asked some questions regarding some situations.

Did you ever talke to Mr Ballash about old Joe?

You know it.....

Matt Thomas isnt your avatar.

No it's not. Did you need glasses to see that? Matt is a good defender but the title of "best defender" is reserved for the player most worthy of that title...... And that would be Mr. Kasey Clark. Would you like me to send a picture for you to see, since your having some troubles?

I would think to be classified as "the best defender" you would need to finish the season on the team... ;)

I guess Matt Thomas could also be the best running back as well as the best defender in EKY.
