August 22, 201610 yr Billy Cunningham (and hey I'm a Carolina guy) and Pete Maravich can go. When one thinks of great, Billy C does not jump to mind, and Pistol was more of a side show. A fun side show to watch, but a side show none the less.

If you are going with him, then he is on down the list. Pierce for me was always a really good (not great) player on horrible teams until they traded for KG and Allen. To me he is Carmello Anthony.

Carmelo is a damn good player and 2.) even with KG and Allen he was still the best player on those teams.

Wilkins had to dominate the ball, he would have had to defer to Jordan and not gotten as many touches with the Bulls, and would have been less effective I think. Then you give up quite a bit on the defensive end with him playing instead of Pippen. The Bulls might have been able to win a few championships with Wilkins, but I don't know that they win 6. My feeling is if they did have Wilkins during the Bulls first run, they would have shipped him off looking for someone like a Pippen who would be a better fit with Jordan and willing to play "second fiddle", which Pippen was more than happy to do. It's all about fit and chemistry, and I don't think it would have been there with Wilkins. I respect your opinion BigV and you may be right but I don't think so. Phil Jackson may have been the one coach who could have made MJ and Wilkins work. We will never know but I think he would have. Do you think the Hawks with Pippen win any championships??

Paul Piece showed me a lot after they became the Big 3. Imagine what Melo would show us if he went the LBJ/KD route and joined a super team. IF Rose and Noah can stay healthy(HUGE IFS) this will be the best team Melo has been on since his Nuggets days and those teams weren't bad at all.
