August 15, 201610 yr The Black album took them mainstream and many never got over that fact. It's actually a solid list of tracks for sure. I'm not a big Enter Sandman fan but I tell you what, I'll never forget hearing it while sitting in the Orange Bowl before a few of their biggest games. I would love to hit VaTech to see their rendition.
August 15, 201610 yr At the time, I really liked The Black album. But, after 25 years, it has not stood the test of time in my ears. Took me many years to figure out how and when they lost their "edge". It happened in September 1986, when bassist Cliff Burton was killed......he was the creative driving force of Metallica. Saw them for first time July 1986 at Louisville's Cardinal Stadium, opening for Ozzy. In my music world, it was a life changing event. Up to that point I had never seen a band as heavy AND tight live.
August 17, 201610 yr Hands down, "Holier Than Thou" is the best track off that album, with "Of Wolf and Man" a close second. That album is solid but marked the beginning of the end with many fans.
August 19, 201610 yr Author The new song/Video...Hardwired... And some people are still hating on these guys. Warning explicit lyrics...
August 19, 201610 yr The new song/Video...Hardwired... And some people are still hating on these guys. Warning explicit lyrics... This kicks butt like some of their earlier stuff. The intense parts of "Battery" from Master of Puppets comes to mind.
August 22, 201610 yr I didn't even know Metallica had new music. Sounds reminiscent of of the older stuff for sure. I just watched it from their live concert in Minnesota, solid.
August 22, 201610 yr This kicks butt like some of their earlier stuff. The intense parts of "Battery" from Master of Puppets comes to mind. I agree with you but I also hear a lot of Damage Inc. in this song.
September 26, 20169 yr My wife is not a metal fan in sense, but Enter Sandman is probably her all time favorite song.
September 27, 20169 yr So why the hate for "Enter Sandman"? Is it because, unlike most heavy metal songs, it actually has a beat/rhythm? If it had been hated by "the masses" would Metallica fans then love it? I know it's more along the lines of a hard rock song (of which I am a fan) and less of a metal song, and I guess that's what irks a lot of metal fans. But the song rocks.
November 1, 20169 yr I've saw them 5 times I believe, was at the Sparta show and saw the makeup at Lexington in Rupp.
