How much salt/pepper do you normally use?

Featured Replies

Growing up, I can hardly remember ever using a pepper shaker. Now, I use black pepper quite frequently, and liberal amounts of it many of those times. I have never used salt much, very very sparingly...except when I put it on cantaloupe, which @rockmom loves.:lol2:

I see some people drown their food in salt and it almost makes me cringe, but I know some really like that "salty" flavor.

Love both salt and pepper but I am having trouble with salt lately. Can somebody please invent colored salt so I know how much I'm putting on my food?! The eyes aren't as good as they used to be.

Outside of when it's being cooked I never put salt and/or pepper on anything.

Whatever is on it when it gets put on my plate. Only exception is excessively bland mashed potatoes. Generally a shake or two does the trick.

If I use pepper I use a lot of it. Baked potato, eggs, gravy, spaghetti...I love me some pepper on those.

Rarely ever use salt.

I like pepper and use a moderate amount on occasion.

Do what I do when I use salt, shake out the salt in the palm of your hand and use your fingers to "pinch" the salt on your food. I have found that many salt shakers at restaurants dump out waaay too much salt at one time, yet you will strain yourself trying to shake the pepper out of the shaker.

Salt almost never and then very sparingly. Pepper it depends on the food.

I will use both salt and pepper. I've found I use less salt since we got a pepper grinder. Couldn't believe how much more flavor the freshly ground pepper has, compared to the canned variety

On a related note, anyone ever heard of Eintein's salt test? My dad would've failed it miserably.

I thought it was Thomas Edison's? Anyway, I would have failed also.

Unless it's cooked poorly and clearly without I'm not usually adding salt. Pepper on the other hand I'm a big fan of.

I don't ever use salt, and I have found that most "salters" will salt it regardless of how much it actually needs. It seems to be a mental thing.

It is/was! Plus I butchered the spelling of old Albert's name anyway. 0 for 2.
