All State Baseball Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Nike announced Wednesday that it is getting out of the golf equipment business, ditching any future in clubs, balls and golf bags. But will continue to be the undisputed leader in Golf apparel and footwear http://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/17212815/nike-announces-exit-golf-equipment-business
TAC Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Didn't Phil Mickelson once say how much better Tiger would be if he didn't have to play with that junk that his sponsor made him play with?
rjs4470 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Didn't Phil Mickelson once say how much better Tiger would be if he didn't have to play with that junk that his sponsor made him play with? Yep. This move doesn't surprise me. Golf is a declining sport, and technology evolves rapidly requiring expensive R&D to keep up in the equipment game. Apparel/shoes is Nike's strong point, and it makes sens e for them to stay in that part of the game. Visually, I've never liked Nike Clubs, but I have on occasion used their golf balls. I'm in the market for new clubs, but Nike wasn't going to be on my list, so really no big deal.
SnottieDrippen Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Didn't Phil Mickelson once say how much better Tiger would be if he didn't have to play with that junk that his sponsor made him play with? I knew there was a reason I struggle to break 90!
mcpapa Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I love my Nike Covert 3-wood and their PD/Soft balls. That being said, I wonder if this would have happened had Tiger still been relevant.
plantmanky Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Now if they would get out of the Appeal business it would be a win win for everyone.
woodsrider Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Now if they would get out of the Appeal business it would be a win win for everyone. Ridiculous...
PutMeInCoach Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I picked up their 3 hybrid yesterday from Dicks. $95 for a $225 club.
plantmanky Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Ridiculous... Agreed ridiculously bad product.
HammerTime Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I know a few people that had Nike Irons that loved them. Other than that much of the golf equipment was sub-par.
woodsrider Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Agreed ridiculously bad product. If you don't like it that's fine. Your post stating "win win for everyone" if they would quit making apparel is just ludicrous. And you made it worse with this post claiming their product is bad. Don't like it, more power to you, but just quit with the ignorance.
woodsrider Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I know a few people that had Nike Irons that loved them. Other than that much of the golf equipment was sub-par. I've never tried their clubs. I've hit some of the different balls but to be honest I'm no where near good enough to tell much of a difference in golf balls.
OlDog75 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I knew there was a reason I struggle to break 90! Yeah, I just KNEW it was the golf balls!
OlDog75 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I love my Nike Covert 3-wood and their PD/Soft balls. That being said, I wonder if this would have happened had Tiger still been relevant. $ $ $ $ $ I'll bet not. $ $ $ $ $
98NCCalum Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Agreed ridiculously bad product. You're piling on and that's simply not true.
