I plan on it. Depending on how tired I am after working on the honey do list today. Can't pass up the sounds and smell of football season.

The premier program in KY has to expect some detractors.

It's about sportsmanship and class. Schools that only have stands on one side are one thing. Apparently it's to taxing for SK to walk across the field to get to their field house.

 

It is because their space is limited due to their cheerleaders. Visiting teams get 2 - 2 1/2 lanes of the track and their sidelines (turf part) is not big so you literally have 2 - 2 1/2 lanes of track for your benches, cooler & sports medicine stuff.

If there's stands on both sides of the field I just find it classless to have teams opposite their own fan base. Ranks right up there with watering down a grass field to slow opponents down.

1. Find someplace else for the cheerleaders. They should have no influence on the management of a game.

 

2. Let the teams use the whole track behind their bench. Simple.

Possibly.

We put the visiting team on the same side as the home bleachers. We find its less distracting for our players and at times more distracting for the visiting. I find it pretty humorous people are getting all bent out of shape over SK doing it. Boone Co use to do the same thing along with a number of other schools.

 

As far as where the fans sit. You bought a ticket and it's open seating. Sit where you want.

Are they allowed to have their pads on at midnight tonight? Per the KHSAA rules?

Yes. It's August 1st. It's a beautiful night here in Independence. Missed the smell of football!!

Beautiful night for football last night. I would estimate 400 to 500 people showed up for midnight madness, including several players from other teams. As to be expected there was some good and some bad. One thing for sure is they will be diverse on offense. I thought the first team D outplayed the first team O until the last few drives then the offense got rolling. D line looked good last night that is a good sign since they lost 2 3 year starters there. Racke had good zip on his ball and looks very fast on the football field. Overall a very solid start for a first practice. Expectations are high in Independence.

Do they fire up the concessions and merchandise for the Midnight Madness? Seems like it would be a lot of fun.
