Introducing Your New Spalding 2016 Forward Game Ball

Featured Replies

Effective this 2016-17 season Spalding will replace Rawlings as the KHSAA game ball.

It has a distinctively different look and feel from the lighter shade, softer textured Rawlings basketball that has served us well through recent history.

The shade is considerably darker, with more pronounced dimples, and a harder, and in my opinion, slicker feel. It has the look of an indoor/outdoor ball.

It is the TF-1000, Classic ZK, composed of ZK microfiber composite.

Spalding representatives say that the KHSAA stamp will not be added until 2017-18 and that this season's balls will be provided out of current inventories.

Now would a mod kindly change my title typo from Spaliding to Spalding.

Thanks!

Note to self: Proof read prior to posting.

It's definitely different. We got a girls ball for my daughter so she could get used to it. I think it definitely is a harder ball. It feels different coming off the fingers when shooting and to me it feels slightly heavier.

NOTE: If you want to buy one to use, make sure you get the exact model. There are various styles of the "TF1000". You need to order by the model #. There was a thread on here a while back that had that info. If I recall the number for the boys ball and the girls ball were switched so check that out also.

It is MUCH harder. There is going to have to be some work to rough them up. I can't imagine they don't get slick with 13 sweaty people handling it for 90 minutes.

I loved the old ball.

I searched and found the prior thread. Here is the info:

These are the official balls according to @sweet16

The adopted products are:

Baseball - Spalding TF Pro HS Baseball (41-100HS)

Basketball-B - Spalding TF1000 Classic (74-7849)

Basketball-G - Spalding TF1000 Class 28.5 (74-7839)

Football - Spalding Alpha -72-6758

Softball - Spalding Dudley Thunder Heat-Polycore (43-147)

I'm pretty sure the boys should be the 74-7839 and the girls the 74-7849.

Which model Spalding ball does the NBA use?

I know during summer camps alot of kids said the ball is very slick.

Did anyone examine the product before accepting the check?

Which model Spalding ball does the NBA use?

NBA has it's own game ball only available to the NBA. It's a full grain leather ball. Much different from these balls. However several of the Euro Leagues according to the Spalding website does use a similar ball to this one the KHSAA has chosen.

Would love to know the money the KHSAA gets off playing this game ball.

Couple coaches I talk to say they are not gonna use the ball during season.
