It's endorsements. Let's not act like 1.) he's banned from swimming 2.) he's banned from making money 3.) he's banned from ever endorsing anything ever again.

I'm sure he'll be fine.

In a sport where endorsements are 99% of your income, losing those endorsements is a pretty big deal. Especially considering it is probably pretty hard to regain those endorsements after losing them.

I just don't get the whole "he deserves it thing." What did he actually even do that was so terrible that you think he is justified in losing an estimated 10 million dollars? Did he hurt anyone? The only "damage" he allegedly did was break a sign, and the $400 he paid for that sign was probably double what the gas station attendants make in a year.

The way I look at it is that the endorsement changes were just accelerated by his actions and cover-up. He is at the end of his swimming career so the endorsements would begin to fade anyway.

Hopefully, he has saved a considerable portion of his earnings.

What did he say that wasn't true? They were shaken down by a security officer while pointing guns at them. Hell, one or two were shaken down by the Brazilian government just to leave the country. Over a sandwich sign at a gas station?! And our government allowed this to happen.

The priorities of this country baffle me.

Hmmmm....interesting take on the situation.

I am curious to hear what you think he did that was so wrong that it should cost him 10 million dollars?

It was his last Olympics. The party is over soon anyways.

People thought that about Phelps after the last Olympics...

It doesn't matter. He lost it and it isn't coming back anytime soon. We are worlds apart from coming to an agreement in this discussion and frankly it is a waste of time to discuss it. I think he got what he deserved. You think it was too harsh. It is what it is.

Peace.

Lochte caused an international incident because he was stupid. He deserves to be punished. The unfortunate thing is that he's 32 years old.

Same report said he was worth $6.2 million.

I'm pretty sure he is planning on being in Tokyo in 2020.

An international incident? That's what were calling it?

I think it was way over blown but it's hard to blame anyone but him. He's the one that started the ball rolling.

That said I do hate that he lost the endorsement money.
