You should be aware there as well. I'm not trying to cast blame on anyone in this situation. I have no idea how well lit that space is but I wouldn't be that close to any body of water in FL when it's getting dark out.

I would absolutely sit on that beach but there would be no way I would walk into that water.

Did other witnesses see the alligator or is it only word of mouth from the parents?

In Florida. The fact that it's a resort is irrelevant.

 

Hell, I wouldn't get into a swimming pool in Florida without thinking about alligators, let alone go near a lake.

 

I tread very lightly anytime in FL because of snakes and gators. I'm always very aware around any body of water.

Not sure about that myself, but I would argue that's a different situation. Now, if a resort built a facility out in the water that you had to or could if you chose to wade/swim out to, and that resort knew sharks were in the water but didn't warn about it or take precautions against it, then the situation might be equitable.

Smartest thing for Disney is to settle this out of court and fast. I'm thinking it's going to be a huge settlement given how much the park rakes in a year.

There were 98 shark attacks with 6 fatalities WORLDWIDE last year. On the other hand, there were 34 dog bite fatalities in the U.S. alone...

If I can't see the bottom of the water I'm swimming in, I don't get in! That includes oceans, lakes, ponds....

 

Now the water in St. Marteen is crystal clear so I will frolic in there for sure!

True, that's why I'm stupid because I swim in it and I know what's out there and how close to shore it is. But this year I may reconsider how far I go out.
