Man who Kills Attempted Rapist of Wife is charged with Manslaughter

I get both sides here. We can't have a society of cowboys seeking retribution even though we may do it ourselves.

Challenge for any prosecutor will be to keep people focused on the law and not the emotion. Not easy.

Finding 12 that will convict will be a tough sell.

I give him a not guilty and wouldn't budge.

Hung jury at the worst. I doubt you will find 12 to convict him.

I would think he should be able to come up with a defense that he was trying to restrain the man for police and he fought back. Make it a case a prosecutor doesn't want.

Exactly who's to say he wasn't trying to catch him and the guy started beating him with the belt...He then struck him with tire iron in self defense.

As I told my wife today...If I was on the jury and the first vote was 11 to 1 guilty, I'd tell them "order lunch, because we are going to be here for a while."

Absolutely an acquittal vote from me and a high five for him when the not guilty verdict is read if I am on the jury.

I think it's safe to say we all would have chased him too.

Curious is those that are praising killing this guy would like to see the death penalty instituted as punishment for rape.

He was fleeing. If he'd hit him with the tire iron to fend him off, fair enough on acting in defense.

But this dude went after the guy and hunted him down and beat him to death as he was running away.

We have laws and you don't get to break them to exact vengeance on bad people.

Maybe he gets a Frank Hadadd (you may be too young to know who that is) type criminal defense attorney who can portray the guy as a hero and get the jury decide with their emotion rather than logic and fact.

This cowboy would be in the cell next to him. Back to common sense again folks.

SC has ruled that it's not available for Rape.

I'm not praising him for killing the guy, I'm just not condemning him either.

If someone tries to rape someone I know and I walk in on it, I'm going to do everything in my power to hold them until law enforcement gets there. If they fight me to get away I'm fighting back. If they hit me with something, I'm hitting them with something.

There are about 50 spots around Louisville with his name on them so unless you're just not paying attention, you know who Haddad was.

There's a similar short list of guys right now that I'd call if I found myself in this situation.

Your king...you making the DP the punishment for rape?

Unfortunately, he was still in the process of fleeing and he had a claim for self-defense at that point. Craziness, I know. What I would say is that the freshness and emotion of the attacks give rise to a temporary insanity defense that ALL juries are going to buy, I would think.

This is what I was wondering if he may be able to plea temporary insanity or act of rage type of defense. Granted my next class about the legal system will be my very first one but I would love for this to go to a jury.
