How do you swing at pitches that are not near the plate.

Take a walk, score 15 runs, step off. Tell the base umpire what you're doing. End the game as quickly as possible. Pretty easy.

Was anyone actually at this game that can shed some light on how it went down?

I don't like to ask girls to purposely strike out. But stepping off the base is an easy and painless solution.

I was not at this game, but just sat through a similar game with my daughter's team. I thought her coach handled it well.....the umpire opened up the strike zone. The girls swung and made contact. They also quit running. Went to t-ball running rules, one base per hit, no stealing and runners only advanced one base. Once you hit the run rule--step off and end the game.

Unless there is a really reasonable explanation the coaching staff should be fired immediately. Coaches CHOOSE to score that many , they think it looks good . They are terrible sports and I hope it comes back to bite them horribly bad . Just step the dang base early a couple times after you are up 15-20 to zero. Instead of running it up where its an issue . I've been in that spot dozens of times , coached a experienced deep small school team that played other small schools in conference play , we gave up less than 10 runs on the season to conference teams , never beat anyone like that.

I was mot at this game but it sounds like several lady cats were 5-5 6-6 at the plate so sound like they were swing the bats. Also heard very few if any JV subs were used :idunno:

A simple rule of thumb would be to treat your opponent like you would like to be treated!

 

This is also a perfect example of why High School stats do not matter to college coaches!

If, what you are implying is that having a "mercy rule" is "wussification", then you are part of the problem with sports and in particular sportsmanship. You don't get it….and to be honest it's not worth a lot of effort to attempt to explain it, you obviously already know it all.
