On a serious note, Dragonfire, what's your take on kids thinking they would be better off to transfer and the KHSAA allowing it (which I doubt they will)?

Unless I have misjudged Coach Stephens (I have no evidence indicating I did), how is it fair to players to continue to ride this roller coaster at WC?

 

They'd be far from the first kids to think they'd be better off transferring. Some are correct - some aren't. But consider that Central is partly in this mess because a decent amount of kids transfer out of the district before they ever even make it to Moss Middle. Was it "fair" to those kids that stayed in their district to play for a diminished team?

This school is in KAOS of this decision and some upper heads need to roll? The Principal unless he get this under control and fast.

Are you speaking of chaos or is KAOS an acronym I am unaware of?

Couple of points to discuss:

 

1) I just saw a spring football twitter picture from another WCS school. Looked to be 10 players in the picture but not 100% certain. If there are only 10 at practice, how does that work? Wasn't the main reason to Stephens' firing because he only had 21 players out? So if your neighboring school only has 10 kids out then how exactly is that justified? Kinda leads me to think the idea of getting somebody's boy in the mix is probably more accurate of a reason.

 

2) Someone said earlier that my comments were a veiled invitation to transfer. Nope, more just keeping the discussion going. If a school is failing at academics, failing at athletics, and failing with their administration, is that a school you want to keep your kids at? Why not look elsewhere? Then take into account the fact that the easiest move is a close move and you would want to be able to play/contribute right away then choices are limited. BG is pretty well set unless you are a stud. SW is the same. If you are a starting/competing Warren Central player then chances stand if you transfer to a school in one of the surrounding counties you stand a great chance of being a standout and having success right away. Makes sense to me if I'm a parent. If I'm going to make a move, make it somewhere my kid can be successful right away.

You don't know much about Warren Central do you?

None of the other WCS have low numbers. East will have their normal 50-60, Gwood will likely be around 70, and south will probably be in the 60-70 range.

I called it how I saw it, and still see it. You have posted 10 times on BluegrassPreps. Every post before this thread was specifically about Butler County and/or players from Butler County. Your first foray into this thread was to suggest that the players might want to look for greener pastures - your second foray included some specific examples of schools these kids might want to look at, of which the first one was Butler County. As was immediately pointed out, you can bet if these kids go anywhere, they'll go to either one of the schools inside these borders. Three out of the four schools inside the county borders have played in at least the state semifinals in the last four years, and the other one looks like they're finally putting the building blocks together (but have the misfortune of playing in a district with soon to be two state title programs).

 

BTW, how do you suppose Warren Central would ever rectify "failing" at those categories if people such as yourself were whispering in the ear of any kid at or on the way to the school that they should just transfer? Again, that line of thinking plays a huge part in why Central is where they are.

I don't know who or how many have applied. I don't know who will even get interviews. But, if I'm interviewing for the job, I'd look dead in the face of the principal, along with other members and ask "How are you going to deal with the real possibility of not winning a game the next two years?" If their tone and answer is anything less than a resounding positive, I'd walk the hell out right then and there.

 

Some might read this and roll their eyes laughing, but if you don't think that is a real possibility then you're kidding yourselves. Their schedule next year is beyond brutal and, not to mention all that they graduated + their extreme lack of numbers.

 

I get coaches out there who so badly want to run their own show, but it's time more and more start turning the tables during this process. Own the interview. You make it their interview as much as it is yours.

I know it won't happen, but would love to see rodgers return & lead the dragons one more time!

No technically the coach can be named at any time. It is a classified position meaning the there is no need for the 30 day hiring window.

This is a cowardly move. Check out how the principle left his last school

They must have a buddy they already want & the whole thing stinks

I'm not a WC fan at all but

Know the coach & people involved.

They ran a good man and coach out the door and let him conduct spring practice and all the other things he was doing to better the program, then the last week of school they tell him they are going in a different direction, shameless 4 coaches in 4 years -that's on the administration not the coach.

Who are the leaders making the turn home on this big hire?

Question still remains "Will Warren Central have enough players to field a varsity football squad in the Fall of 2016?". Won't matter who the "new" coach is if the answer is no.
