April 28, 201610 yr Bruce--I'd say "Born to Run". But "Jungleland" is an epic, great, painful story that really shows off the E-Street band and Bruce's ability to tell a story. Prince-"Purple Rain" is the one that I think most would say, but "When Doves Cry" is the one that really got my attention with the iconic guitar riff to start the song and made me realize how great of a musician he was. Michael-"Thriller" is the song that made him the King of Pop. Probably the best video ever. But don't sleep on "Smooth Criminal".
April 28, 201610 yr It's hard enough to narrow it down to even a couple for each artist. Prince and Bruce should be easier for me since I'm a fairly big music fan, but haven't went out of my way too many times to listen to many deep cuts. This is an interesting question though because I think each of these artists have iconic songs that are not necessarily what I think me or the average person would think of when hearing the artists' name. I completely agree with Getslow on Springsteen. Born to Run is an awesome song, but Born in the U.S.A. has to be the song the majority of Average Joes and Janes would recognize the most. While the meaning of the song is often lost, I think there is an argument that Born in the U.S.A. is the more iconic song, but Born to Run is most associated with the Boss. In a similar vein in my opinion 1999 is Prince's most iconic song, but when I think of Prince I think most of Purple Rain the movie and When Doves Cry the song. For the King of Pop, I hear his name and I think of Thriller, the song, the album, and the music video. Unrelated my favorite of his songs is P.Y.T., but while I think he is most associated with Thriller, his most iconic songs are either Billie Jean or Beat It. Also, I have no idea if anything I just typed makes any sense whatsoever.

April 28, 201610 yr Maybe the choices will be generational. I don't see most 40+ folks saying "Born In The USA" for Bruce. I'd say "Born To Run." Prince is a big tougher for me. Again, maybe generational. I say "1999" for him. We may agree on MJ. This. "Born to Run" for this old codger.
