May 18, 201610 yr She doesn't. It's a small minority that doesn't like her for whatever reason. The only people I have seen talk bad about her anywhere is people on BGP. She gets praise and love everywhere else. Maybe you should ask your friend why they hate her so much. No one else hates her. He said that she is very disrespectful to coaches and team mates. He also said she is very wild and deserved a lot more punishment than what she got, but she was the best player and like best players get done sometimes, the coach turned his head and acted like he didn't know. Just what he has said to me. I have no clue. She is a very good player and has been suspended for drinking with someone underage. She seems like able on tv interviews. Actually it's not the few on BGP that I have heard most bad things about her. There are quite a few that don't have a good opinion of her for whatever reason. I'm not one since I don't really follow her or women's basketball that much.

If it was Epps the bus would have ran over her 10 players and 2 coaches ago. No way the program goes in disarray and is in the shape it is in and it be Epps' fault and the whole university covers for her. That's not even realistic and if that is the case then Barnhart needs to be fired on the spot. Put me in the camp that refuses to believe the whole school of UK is falling on the sword for Makayla Epps.
May 18, 201610 yr Got to say Whitaker and Williams-Jeter handled their departures in intelligent, classy fashions. Caste no stones, burnt no bridges, left nothing but positive footprints, and will allow their efforts and relationships to speak loudly for their valuable time at UK. Would not be surprised to see either one of them back as HC in the somewhat distant future. Both need to build an impressive HC tenure somewhere before they are ready to takeover a SEC program. Looks like Whitaker has landed a great opportunity, but friends have warned me her first year is going to be a little thin on talent? I personally don't think it will take her long to build NKU into a quality program.

But, if she did do some things and a few certain players started leaving and it just created a snowball effect. Maybe it was just too much favoritism and a few didnt like it and the snowball effect took place. IDK, but something has to be up with all this mess.
May 18, 201610 yr John Clay's comment in Herald this morning...."Would the last one to leave the Kentucky women's basketball program please turn out the lights?"
May 18, 201610 yr I don't think UK can recover from this mess as long as Mitchell is still the coach, which is sad because he had built a good program. And even if he is replaced it will take several years to be a factor in the SEC again?
May 18, 201610 yr Whatever happened is over, but he needs to go plain and simple. It has become embarrassing and we have some good talent in our state that a new coach can recruit and be successful. He did a great job at building it up, but he also is making a mockery of it now. Don't waste any more time
May 18, 201610 yr Well if spending so much time away with his family is more important than being a bigger part of the program that is supposed to be his, then FIRE him and let him be at home more like he wants.
May 18, 201610 yr ...then FIRE him and let him be at home more like he wants. This isn't just for you ref, but does anyone know what the buyout is for Mitchell?

And even if he is replaced it will take several years to be a factor in the SEC again? I agree. I think you have to cut ties and bring someone new in. The program is a winner and he has shown Kentucky can be successful. If you bring someone else in, let them recruit, aware that this year might not be great, but there is no reason a good hire couldn't have Kentucky back to high level success very soon. But the longer you stay with Mitchell, the longer you leave questions unanswered, and you drag the program down further.
May 18, 201610 yr I say if you fire Mitchell, yo may lose a few players then you may have a team full of walk ons.
May 18, 201610 yr I'm simply shocked the Matt Jones covers the University of Kentucky extensively and breaks everything related the the University of Louisville with added conjecture yet doesn't seem to know anything about this situation.
