April 19, 201610 yr I'm sure most Reds' fans feel that there's blame to be shared but who do you most blame for this period of losing? Bad contracts, bad managing, bad ownership , bad luck . or what? We're probably going to lose 90+ games again, maybe 100, maybe next year as well. That's not something we are used to as Reds' fans. Rarely do we go into a season with virtually no hope of post-season baseball or even above-average regular season baseball. What's your diagnosis and your solution? Who's to blame for this crappola? BTW, I'll be a die-hard Reds' fan whether they win 100 or lose 100. It's just not as fun as it used to be when we were winning all the time. Maybe we need Trump as Reds' President or GM. We need our Redlegs to be great again.

April 20, 201610 yr It seems to me as if the Reds never have any hitters coming up through the minors..I know Votto and Bruce were drafted by the Reds but how many "Hitters" have the Reds Minors produced in the last 6 plus years outside of Votto and Bruce?

April 20, 201610 yr Combination of bad contracts and timing. The farm system produced a ton of talent that ended up being close to FA around the same time and couldn't afford to keep everyone. Some bad lucky injury wise. The farm system never replenished itself and it needed to be rebuilt.

A pen of Simon Cingrani Cotham Wood Lorenzen Moscott Lamb/Finnegan Straily would look pretty good IMO

April 20, 201610 yr The problem is the Reds went for it and had it in their hands, but blew it against the Giants the year that we were up 2-0 in the playoffs. They made a lot of moves and had a small window...just didn't pan out. So now they gotta rebuild.

Whether it was Bob or Walt, neither one learned anything during their time in St. Louis. You are exactly correct, those contracts are terrible deals. However, the most criminal aspect of this is that there is very little in a Farm System that was pretty healthy before either got here. You can't run a successful small to middle market baseball team without a top notch farm system. Well, not a successful one for very long.
