May 8, 201610 yr We are finishing up our trip. Just came back from dinner and a mom and two cubs were right by our driveway. Two straight years we encountered bears. These were more timid than the 2015 version.

July 10, 201610 yr I couldn't imagine being tossed off the mountain coaster. We rode the Alpine Coaster in PF, I'm sure their business will be booming since the Gatlinburg coaster shut down.
July 10, 201610 yr We are going Tuesday but won't be riding that thing. There are a few of them. They're fun, don't let an isolated incident stop you. Just try to find a coupon to make it worth while.

If all you need is mountain scenery, wood to burn, bourbon to sooth the soul and an occasional visit downtown or surrounding for dinner, go during the winter months, it's great.

Thought the same thing till one year we rented a chalet up on the hill. Never left the place. Had a great time. Snow on the ground. Fire in the fire place. Good food and it was with her family and I still had a great time.
