Last weekend, there was a cabin in Pigeon Forge that caught fire too. Maybe second guessing buying one down there.

Only thing I could find was Ruby Tuesdays burned. Article said it was on the Parkway but I don't remember it. It's been a couple years since we've been down that way.

 

Ruby Tuesdays near entrance to Apple Barn. Was in the area the day it burned, reports stated it was set from "outside" the restaurant.

 

The helicopter pilot, a mother, her son, teenage daughter and daughter's boyfriend perished in the helicopter crash. One person was still alive at the crash site and was heard yelling for help by witnesses but that person didn't survive the intense fire before rescue personnel could get there. I was in the area that day as well. We were driving thru Pigeon Forge and saw the fire and heard the sirens.

1st A couple of weeks ago a sight seeing helicopter crashed killing all on board.

 

2nd This weekend a couple was found dead in a hot tub (COD not released yet)

 

3rd Today a naked man jumped from the Space Needle committing suicide.

 

Surprised we don't hear more about the hot tub kind of thing with the epidemic of heroin use. Not saying that happened in this case but it does make me wonder. Also wonder if the jumper was chemically induced as well.

This is the 5th thing in the last 10 days there.

I was there this past weekend, and outside of an outrageous hangover one day, had a really pleasant time.

I love being in a cabin in Gatlinburg. Hate the traffic to get there, but it is worth sitting there and looking at those beautiful mountains. Just avoid those helicopter rides!

I made my first trip to a mountainside cabin last June. I didn't think I would enjoy it but it was a very peaceful experience. Can't wait till wexleave again in a few weeks.

Especially if it is windy. Which was one of the issues that day when the one went down.

I just got back from a few days in Pigeon Forge.

 

We didn't see any helicopters flying at all, they must have all shut down for a while.

 

The only catastrophe we expreienced was choosing to eat at Mama's Farmhouse one evening. Very bad meal. The place is owned by the Johnson family that also owns/runs Alamo and Bennetts, so we were hopeful, but ended up really disappointed. Should have went with the old standard Apple Barn or Old Mill for the home cooked dinner.

There is probably a lot of these types of things happening all the time in places like that but we don't hear about it. The helicopter crash was so unusual and drew a lot of attention and then every one kind of started connecting the dots.

 

I have a friend who works for Bristol Motor Speedway and he told me a long time ago that on race weekends they normally will have at least one death, sometimes more, and lots of other emergencies. At first it really threw me back, but like he said, think of it as a city of 175,000 people, and over the course of 4-5 days you are going to have some stuff like that happen. Throw in the partying and close quarters and those chances increase.
