April 11, 201610 yr I agree that it was painful to watch however my takeaway was what class Spieth displayed. In his own words: The green jacket ceremony, he conceded, was not easy. 'I can't think of anybody else who may have had a tougher ceremony to experience,' he said. 'I'm obviously happy for Danny. More important than golf, he's had a lot of really cool things happen in his life. Like he said, maybe fate had it this time for him. I certainly wanted to control fate, myself. 'But it was very tough given that it's so soon after the finish and it was tough but I thought that he handled it with extreme class. And I felt that I stood up there and smiled like I should, and appreciated everybody who makes this great tournament possible. 'But this one will hurt. It will take a while.' April 11, 201610 yr Putting absolutely kept Spieth in the golf tournament all week. He hit his driver awful and his irons pretty poorly all week. It was only a matter of time before his inconsistency caught up to him and man did it do it in a big way.
April 11, 201610 yr One of the best and wildest Masters I have watched. On my bucket list to attend some day.
April 11, 201610 yr One of the best and wildest Masters I have watched. On my bucket list to attend some day. I apply for tickets every year! Never been picked. One of my buddies did offer to pick me up some souvenirs from the event. I told him I couldn't afford anything they had to offer other than the pimento cheese sandwiches.
April 11, 201610 yr One of my golfing buddies got to see Rory make his ace in the Tuesday practice round.
April 11, 201610 yr If you've never been to Augusta National, golf fan or not, you are missing out on the purest sports complex in the United States. No stadium, field, arena in the U.S. compares.

I agree, to a certain extent. If you have ever been to Lambeau Field, you might feel a little less confident in your statement. It is like comparing Rachel Welch to Farah Fawcett, in my generation.
April 11, 201610 yr I must say, this year's Masters has made me less critical about the choking I have done through the years on the golf course. Ernie Els and Jordan Spieth are or have been at the top of their profession and are still subject to being humbled on the golf course.
April 11, 201610 yr It was tough watching that 12th hole. I really don't think Spieth gagged. He is just fighting his swing right now. He missed a lot of shots right the entire week and actually has regressed from a ball striking perspective this year compared to last year. He is SO GOOD around the greens that he can still win but he needs to correct his swing. Frankly, I thought he was pretty lucky to be winning going into Sunday. He had numerous good breaks on Saturday with some poor drives where he had openings through the trees to the green. At 11 on Sunday he finally had to pitch out sideways. On 12 his miss right ended up in the drink...he just ran out of luck. He is a class act the way he handled himself after. It is hard to believe he is only 22. It is so refreshing to hear a guy that is totally honest but not a jerk about things. I will root for him more now than before the Masters. BTW, if Dustin Johnson could putt like Spieth, he would have been 12 under this week. He just could not make anything.

If you've never been to Augusta National, golf fan or not, you are missing out on the purest sports complex in the United States. No stadium, field, arena in the U.S. compares. I know you have been to the Masters. Has to be something special to be there in person. A must do on your bucket list. Even if it is seeing a practice round, Augusta National is what I envision Heaven being like. Practice round will be fine with me. Want to walk the grounds and just take it all in.

Want to walk the grounds and just take it all in. I used to go to the practice round each year. We would get there at sunrise and walk from the first hole to the eighteenth hole, have lunch, and then walk from the eighteenth hole back to the first hole. Then it was in the car, headed back to Lexington. A great, great day.
