April 30, 201610 yr Do the Bengals go for safety or center with the 5th round pick? I think there's probably a few more safeties to choose from. I don't know, but it's nice to be able to just sit back and trust their judgment... Thus far, it's looking like another solid draft by Tobin and the Bengals staff...
April 30, 201610 yr Do the Bengals go for safety or center with the 5th round pick? I think there's probably a few more safeties to choose from. With them drafting a corner, they didn't really have to get a safety. Remember Josh Shaw is also a guy who can also play safety. Which I think that is their plan with him now.
April 30, 201610 yr Author I don't know, but it's nice to be able to just sit back and trust their judgment... Thus far, it's looking like another solid draft by Tobin and the Bengals staff... Bengals got really good value for some of their later picks. Overall a very good draft for the Bengals.
April 30, 201610 yr Does anybody have a any doubt now why the Browns are as bad as they are? Is Matt Millen calling the shots there now? 13 picks so far and 5 WRs? I guess Josh Gordon can coach them up!
April 30, 201610 yr Bengalss drafted Billings from Baylor hopefully they cut Peko now. So Steelers can sign Peko.
April 30, 201610 yr @EZ Living, in answer to your first question: 1. It isn't because of this current regime. Hue, Sashi Brown, et al are not responsible for the failures of the past and we won't know how well they did with their first draft until during the season and really over the next 2 to 3 seasons. 2. It isn't because they drafted too many WRs in the past. Can you name a receiver the Browns have taken in the first round over the last ten years? How many receivers were drafted by the Browns in the last two years? I'll give you the answers. Zero receivers in the first round over the last 10 seasons. The last receiver taken in the first round by the Browns was 2005. In the last two seasons they only drafted one receiver and that was Vince Mayle last year in the 4th round. He wasn't on the team when the season began. The takeaway: the Browns need to rebuild the receiving corp. It is obvious that the receiver position needs an overhaul. It produced 17 TDs last season. 5 receivers taken this year, one in the 1st round. One is a TE. If just two WRs stick, it is a good draft. I know 5 receivers seems excessive but it is the position that needs the most help. The Browns need production. Hue and company are determined to find a WR that can produce it. The Browns also drafted a QB, a Safety, 2 OT, 2 DE edge rushers, LB, CB, and one more pick in the last round to go along with their 4 WRs receivers and 1 TE. Most of those picks were very productive for their college teams. They also made a trade in the 7th round for a CB from Miami and swapped their pick with them. 14 picks and a trade represents a pretty good draft class. I'll withhold judgment on whether 4 WRs and one TE was too many receivers until we see them during the season.
May 1, 201610 yr Tyvis Powell and Jalin Marshall both Ohio State players were not drafted this weekend. Both however have signed free agent contracts. Marshall to New York Jets and Powell to Seattle .

According to the talking heads they could have gotten a more needed position there or at least a better WR. As for all the WRs, why would you waste picks on guys who probably won't make the team. I'm sure there were needs they could have filled with say 2 less WRs.
