I agree with this one. Robinson is an outstanding player, but what Creech did for her team this season and taking them to the Region Finals does more for me.

 

That's the first girl I saw that I thought Creech could replace. I think the Robinson girl will be fantastic in 2 YEARS. She still makes young mistakes and did not carry her team any farther than Creech carried her team. And IMO Ashland had more talent overall than Jenkins. It would have been an easy decision for me. And there may be other girls that she could replace but I did not see them play.

Because as I stated previously, this was the criteria listed on by BGP:

 

"all-around contributions to their respective teams sets them apart"

 

You can't tell me that Creech wasn't THE reason that Jenkins won as much as they did. Robinson had a better supporting cast. Yes she's good but you can't convince me that she did more for her team than Creech. No way.

You can take 5-8 average or slightly below average players, put them in a platoon system to keep them fresh and run them at one player for the whole game and it is very very difficult to score high numbers. If you put 2-3 good middle school players on a great high school player and run them in platoon, full court, against that player it will wear them down over time. There is always someone at your chest and in help defense. You always have to avoid the charge, you always have fresh bodies running at you. Yes, Creech did not play super strong competition, but she went against the best 2-3 that were on the floor the whole game and still scored 50 plus a contest while shooting a high percentage (no volume scoring here).

 

To me, the argument "she didnt play strong competition" doesn't hold as much weight when you look at her numbers. We act like any good player on a bad team could do this but that is not true. There are weak teams across the state year in and year out that play weak schedules. They dont all have a player dropping 50 with the whole team guarding them. They dont all play the whole game with God knows what kind of pressure on them. If it were par for the course we should see lots of high 40's to high 50's averages year in and year out on those bad teams who play bad schedules but we dont. Creech is the exception and should be on this team.

 

I guess when she makes the KY/IND All Star team and 1st Team All State across the board (coaches and press votes) that the BGP committee knows more than those guys. It happens from time to time, but like I said before, the committee missed this one big time. No other way to put it. Her and Boley should have been the first two on the list for not only performance, but what they have done in both their career and for KY High School Girl's basketball.

 

Im interested to know if Creech made the BGP team last year? Would be sad if she did last year and not this year..

 

I don't put any more stock in the press and coach teams than I do BGP - maybe less.

The KY/IND All Star team is seniors only. She's one of the top 12 seniors on the state. I'd say there will be quite a few girls on the KY/IN All Star team that didn't make the BGP Team.

 

I'd say the BGP team isn't nearly as political as the other teams. Anyone can go on ListServ and see coaches lobbying for votes for their players. Kind of ironic to suggest that coaches in the good old boy network would make every selection on their All State team the right choice.

But that's the criteria directly from BGP....So tell me who contributed more to her team's overall success than Creech. Without her, I doubt if they win more than 3 - 4 games if that.

Yes. I trust the folks who actually watch and evaluate each player over the guys who don't.

 

Also keep in mind those lists are putting her on there because of her accolades and accomplishments. Not because they think she is one of the top 10 overall players in the states. These are all different lists with different criterias.

 

And again, I think she is deserving of being on the All BGP team but I get why she isn't.

. I also believe that the quality of play in EKY is below average OVERALL. There are some great players , including Creech, but overall it's below average and sometimes shockingly below average.

 

That hurts Creech. What offsets that is that a D1 college says they think she can play at their school. I have no doubt she can play. I just don't look at 50+ PPG as being automatically better than what the other girls have done against better talent.

 

Not an easy call for the crew that made this team.

I dont think anyone is basing this off numbers. I think what this was based off was who is the best basketball player in Kentucky regardless of class.

I'm not sure about other people commenting on this thread.. But I personally see THOUSANDS of girls basketball players each year.

And I've seen each player on this list at least 10-15 times each. I have no argument whatsoever with the committe's decision to leave Creech out of the top 10. She is a good player. But she is a low D1 player in terms of talent. All of the other players on this list are talented enough to play at BCS schools and will probably do so.

Numbers are always looked at regardless of what we may want to think. End of day we don't have any kids on the list that averaging 4pt per game 1 assist 2 rebounds....

That said, someone tell me a player on the list that would have the level of success Creech has had if you were to put them in her position on the Jenkins team. I have never seen a kid, male or female, have the ability to consistently take on double and triple teams, jump thru the pressure and finish at a very high percentage. Creech should not be viewed differently because of her team, she should be viewed by how she performed. That performance was remarkable and could not be duplicated by 70% of the girls on the list.

If I put Creech on Blair Greens team then she would not only improve the team, but easily exceed Green's performance. I can list others as well.

I think you are insinuating that Creech's numbers are so high because of the very poor competition that she plays. I can tell you their are many many poor teams in Jefferson County, Western Ky and quiet a few in NKY. Basically throughout the state. The Harlan County girl is highly rated but I'm not sure I see her playing top level competition in the state. Just saying, she couldn't have performed any better against the weak competition so what could she possibly do to be recognized? As I stated above, give me a list of girls that would perform at her level in her situation then I'll buy in.
