The real story here is there is a petition circulating - appears it originated from a satirical website - trying to allow firearms at the Cleveland venue. Sorry, I wouldn't be at something like this that allows firearms, especially when it has this attention drawn to it.

Ok, that is fine, but that has nothing to do with this. The RNC has nothing to do with allowing/disallowing anything at a facility they are renting. Hell, I'm not even a gun guy but I can see through this one.

Professional sports leagues are attempting to get states to change laws they already passed and will probably succeed. These arenas are privately owned and everything is probably negotiable (insurance concerns aside, although this is the most important constitutional right to many within the GOP). With the amount of people and money the convention will bring to the area changing this policy one time would probably not be an issue.

As I said previously, having a convention at a Gun Free Facility, along with accepting Secret Service protection are matters of choice for the RNC. They are accountable and responsible for their choices in this matter and what is being communicated here by the RNC is that they are safer in a GUN FREE ZONE. PERIOD!

 

This issue is a characteristic of a much larger issue that involves a conflict of standards and policies for elected officials as opposed to the general population. It is a culture of PRIVILEGE for elected officials that is a consequence of unlimited terms!

Come to the Gun Show in Louisville April 16 and 17th and you will see the people in line to enter the show demonstrating to uniformed officers that the fire arms in their possession have been disabled (firing pin removed, a lock through the chamber so the Gun cannot go into battery, etc.). The only reason guns are allowed in is because the owners of the facility know that often times gun owners want to use their current firearms to trade for others they want to buy from the vendors there.

Conventions are held in stadiums and arenas, not your local community center that seats 300 people. You are setting up a false equivalency. Wanting to hold an event at an arena = You want guns banned. The RNC has communicated nothing. A satirical outfit cleverly started an online petition to allow guns at the convention and you took from it "the RNC is banning guns at their convention."
