March 27, 201610 yr Republicans Want Guns In Schools But Not At Their National Convention | ThinkProgress At least the hypocrisy is consistent. Don't get me wrong, I support 2nd amendment rights, but this sends the wrong message. You simply cannot do this and then turn around and tell society you are safer with guns in schools!
March 27, 201610 yr Author The fact that the NRA is silent on stuff like this tells me they don't give a crap about the constitution , only gun sales. They are a manufacturing lobby hiding behind the constitution when it meets their needs, and ignoring the constitution when it meets their needs. I also find their absence conspicuous when professional athletes get in trouble for merely possessing a gun.
March 27, 201610 yr The article is a little misleading, or am I missing something? They are going to a facility (sports arena) that doesn't allow guns. Not sure what venue would? What does the RNC have to do with that?

You simply cannot do this and then turn around and tell society you are safer with guns in schools! -Armed Teachers or Law Enforcement in Schools it just a bit different than Armed Protesters invading a convention I would think. -Moot point since the Secret Service would not allow guns anywhere a protectee was going to be. -If the Arena doesn't allow Firearms to begin with (Just like Rupp doesn't) I don't see where this is an issue of any real substance to begin with.

The RNC is not required to accept Secret Service Protection. The RNC is not compelled to choose a facility that bans firearms! Don't preach it, if you can't practice it!
March 27, 201610 yr The RNC is not required to accept Secret Service Protection. The RNC is not compelled to choose a facility that bans firearms! Don't preach it, if you can't practice it! In all seriousness, what facility similar to this allows firearms? I guess they could host it on some private farmland?
March 27, 201610 yr Author In all seriousness, what facility similar to this allows firearms? I guess they could host it on some private farmland? I bet they allow fire arms at the Cowboys stadium, or any stadium in Texas for that matter!
March 27, 201610 yr Any facility that hosts gun shows allows guns. I don't know, but that would seem logical.
March 27, 201610 yr I bet they allow fire arms at the Cowboys stadium, or any stadium in Texas for that matter! Checked. Prohibited.
March 27, 201610 yr Any facility that hosts gun shows allows guns. I guess if that was the RNC's top issue (to many it is, I know), I'm sure they could find a convention center that hosts gun shows to hold their event, though finding something of that size would severely limit their choices. I don't think most gun shows are held at the Rose Bowl.
March 27, 201610 yr Now this is hypocrisy, no two ways about. I applaud the RNC for using some common sense on guns for a change!
March 27, 201610 yr When is the convention in Cleveland? I will try my best to avoiding going while it is going on.
March 27, 201610 yr Are we going to see a headline that says, "DNC Prohibts Guns at Convention!"? Completely ignoring it is at a facility that prohibits firearms? The real story here is there is a petition circulating - appears it originated from a satirical website - trying to allow firearms at the Cleveland venue. Sorry, I wouldn't be at something like this that allows firearms, especially when it has this attention drawn to it.
