Not all Lexington schools have concessions down by the end zones - and what's the flipping obsession with two concession stands anyway?

 

Standing in line and miss a quarter of the football game. Henry Clay, Lafayette and Bryan Station all have concessions stands down by the end zone.

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing. I mean, how many times does a person have to bring up concession stands. I thought we all went to watch football!

 

When you suffer from disappointment every year, you tend to find yourself at the concession stand more so than not.

I'm in agreement with those who have mentioned the old stadium appeal. Dayton and Holmes have a lot of character and I enjoy both facilities.

 

Hats off to all the schools who have utilized height well to overcome the tracks distancing fans from the field :thumb:. Ryle, SK and Campbell County come to mind. Probably the largest seating capacity also! I'll give the edge to the Camels ( great scoreboard ).

 

I really like Dixies complex, however, they dropped the ball on bleacher height on both sides of the field. They have a great track surface and another bonus is two bathrooms.

 

I like others enjoy the close field proximity and height of Dave Cecil. I do miss the cannon. I got to shoot that thing once! :walk: Have to walk a far piece to get to a small restroom would be my only complaint. And maybe choose a new TD song.

 

I pride myself on not eating concession food, however, friends really enjoy SKs kettle corn. Thumbs up to Cooper and Highlands for solid tailgates.

Highlands will also feature the best FroYo in the country at their Concession next season!

I am partial to Gilligan Stadium in Bellevue. The wood bleachers and the way they are tucked in between the trees is pretty cool.

Are there any schools that still maintain a grass surface? I emphasize maintain in that they not only have grass, but that they actually take care of it

In NKY, most of the grass fields are in pretty rough shape by mid season. 3 football teams, boys and girls soccer, and the weather make maintainence very hard. Believe it or not, the best maintained grass football field is at Twenhofel Middle School. But again, it doesn't get anywhere near the use a high school field would get. One of the nicer high school grass fields I've seen is Mason County's field.

I like the way Lexington schools are set up with the concession down by the endzone.

 

Since Fayette County upgraded all of the stadiums in Lexington, it seems like the bleachers are about a mile from the field. You aren't very close to the action. I like stadiums where you seem to be right on top of the action.

very true, but there are some schools that at least try. I know Bellevue does a good job of maintaining it during the off-season. Holmes used do take great care of their field. I know when Holy Cross started playing there it got harder to maintain

Ludlow is up there in my opinion. The stands still have the old school feel but now they also have a new concession stand to go along with their new field house. Plus watching a game down on the river is nice. Very nice atmosphere.

Having to basically walk on the field and not having largest capacity along with scattered parking count against Highlands. Campbell is just really nice I Like Dixies layout

Agreed, Ryle needs to update their concourse area and it would be perfect. Ive heard that plans are in the works for that to possible happen when they replace the turf at Ryle.

 

Replace the turf?! Where will they get the money? I wish they'd get rid of that dang train whistle. And stop with the fireworks, already.

Maintain? What's the point of that? But I am glad you mention grass fields. You know God intended football to be played on grass (this is my mantra in the soccer forum also). With that being said, Boone County has the best field for football. It has to do with the people you see there. Great fans.
