Trinity 52 St. Xavier 48 (OT) (7th Region Championship)

Featured Replies

X radio announcers surmised he got worn down late in the game.

I think the announcers got it right. The kid never came out of the game and the ball was in his hands most of the time X had the ball. When it wasn't, he was moving and cutting trying to get open. The X coach was in a tough spot. Take him out and X gets blown out. Leave him in and he runs out of gas.

I didn't have a dog in the fight but you have to hurt for McKim, kid played his heart out, St X would not have won 8 games without him. The Trinity students were totally classless, chanting to Mckim "you let your whole team down"

St X simply could not overcome the bad karma strength and conditioning coach Mike Glaser brings to their bench. His complete hatred for Trinity is well known.

He almost gave out as many instructions as the head coach. St X AD Alan Donhoff was trying to coax the St X adults into standing and cheering during the OT session! Hilarious! You simply will not see Mr. Saxton or Mr. Lampley walking the sideline raising their arms to encourage fan participation. The $5,000.00 cash bonus for winning the region will help cover the travel too and from Lexington, KY next week.

In the section where I was no one had to encourage the fans. I don't think it was coach Glaser's karma. I think Coach Klein played his flawed hand the best he could. The X kids gave it all they had. I'm not sure I have ever seen kids play any harder than the Trinity kids did in that 4th quarter comeback. It was a great game to watch.

That's funny about the $5,000. Just put in the endownment fund for those precious non-catholic school going athletes that find there way onto Trinity's roster every year.

As far as who outplayed who...

Trinity looked better in the 1st Quarter.

Trinity was in control of the 2nd Quarter until the technical, which allowed X to close the gap.

X owned the 3rd Quarter.

Trinity owned the 4th Quarter and Overtime.

JMO, of course.

If X wants to be an elitist and exclusionary school good on ya.

Trinity has now eliminated X from the 3 major team sports playoffs this year. Soccer, Football and Basketball.

How can you say that? They split 2 games. Trinity should not have won either game. St. X out played Trinity the entire regulation last night.

How could you say he's wrong? McKim was great and had 34 of 48 points. St. X had a kid play 25 minutes and he had 4 rebounds and 1 foul...nothing else - no FGAs. Trinity was the better team and X had the better player. No shame in that....one free throw and the better player was taking his team to the Sweet 16.

No dog here either....loved the back and forth between the students. But you have to admit there was some classless X chants as well. I was sitting with an X dad who told his son to tell them to stop the Newman chants. The dad was embarrassed by a few of the X and I am certain the same could have been said for Trinity. No need to say one was the 'leader' because they were both being kids at a big game in a major rivalry.

Com'on All Tell, how many times do the Xavierans have to keep repeating that X is the Academic School and T is the Neanderthal Jock School, a school can't exceed in both.......just look at Univ of Notre Dame.

For those who are a bit dense, that last part was me being a smart alec by providing an exception to the stupid comment that X is losing to T in athletics is because they focus on academics while T focuses on athletics because you obviously cannot succeed at both. That was probably obvious to most but some cannot read between the lines.

Don't pretend X hasn't had some very impressive athletes who never stepped foot in a Catholic Grade School.

Love it!!! Go Rocks

I want to add to this thread what I initially planned to add before the "classless" comments from the X-philes.

The Tigers played their hearts out and I really felt for McKim who by all accounts is a great kid. I watched him walking off the court and even though he single handedly kept them in the game he felt the weight of that loss on his shoulders alone.

You played your butt off young man.

Which ones?

Sorry. Bad papa.

Yeah, because I'm sure he's the first and only person they have done that to. Pretty impressive they put that cheer together that quick!
