Augusta 72 Scott 71 (10th Region Quarterfinals)

It would only be fitting that Augusta and Mason meet one more time before both schools lose some great seniors!

It may be fitting that Paris and MoCo meet in the finals.

Anything can happen.. just saying if Mason and Augusta met for the regional final it might be the most the most hyped and attended 10th region championship game in recent history. Anything can happen, but we can all be hopeful for certain things and I am hopeful these 2 get the job done Monday

Kinda feels like 40th is representing!

Very poor call. Foul yes. Flagrant no way. Almost as bad as the walk call (could have been flagrant foul on Pendleton) on Jones in the MoCo game. Happy for the young man in the Augusta game who hit the shot at the end.

CharlieFleet, I had exactly the same thought. Did not mention that, because my post would become excessively complaining. Overall, I thought both games were pretty well officiated, but the walk call when PC lifted the Jones around the waste off the floor as he was elevating for the layup was off-the-wall bad, too.

You mean intentional, right? Flagrant results in an ejection.

My bad. Yes, intentional. This call ought to be on a training tape, of what an official has no business calling unless he is sure. Could have meant 4 pts and game. Luckily, only meant 1.

Just got home from leg #2 of the whirlwind tour. Wow what a game. A-town down 9 with 4 to go just finds a way to win. Of course it's Jack Laycock with the game winner.

THIS TEAM WILL NOT DIE!!!!!

That would be Jack Laycock, sophomore that played 35 secs and had missed two free throws immediately before this spectacular rebound by Cameron Snapp. Sr. PG O. Crawford still had the faith and hit Jack who took one dribble and laid in the winner. Great young man that will relive that moment forever.

yep. Auto correct got me. Stat sheet I have says 23 seconds of PT, but the 2 biggest points of his life! Can't wait to listen to the various podcasts on that one.

35 (might be wrong)....23 (probably right)....... 2 (only stat that matters)!!!!!!

Sophomore Jack Laycock comes in with 35 secs to go and Panthers down 71-70. Gets fouled with 15 to go and misses both. On 2nd miss, Cameron Snapp tips out and recovers on rt. wing. Laycock open underneath and hits winner with 5 to go. TO Scott. Scott fires up 3 from left wing with 2 to go. Ohmer grabs rebound and flips up probably his only miss of the night as time expires. Caravan from River to Rupp continues.

Outstanding account of the game. Nice work. I also love the River to Rupp. I see tee-shirts with the phrase if they can do it.

George Clooney has offered to pay for them ?

Hold on, hold on. Are you telling me, that this team often compared to Hickory HS and Hoosiers, has Coach Dale (Kirk) going down the bench to grab Ollie (Laycock), insert him in late in the game, and after missing two FTs, hits the game winning basket??!!

I thought that's what you said! Unbelievable!! Congratulations to Hickory (Augusta). Save me a seat on the "River to Rupp" train. Very cool.

Why was he put in the game at the end? Did someone foul out or a hunch by the coach?

Nice win for Augusta.

Yes fouls created this situation for "jack".

For every kid that's been on the bench(all of us) and don't get a lot clock, "jack" made you proud. To sit there for an entire game, warm-up still on, no sweat broken, the bright lights shinning and be inserted in that situation had to be off the charts crazy for "jack".

For those not there you missed something special, the Augusta regulars found "jack" not once but twice on the same play same spot cutting baseline like "jack's" done it a thousand times. Each time his teammates never hesitated, the ball was simply passed to the open man.

Jack if your reading this I want to thank you. You and your teammates are what hs basketball is suppose to be about. It's a game I'll never forget and I'm sure you won't either.
