Yes fouls created this situation for "jack".

 

For every kid that's been on the bench(all of us) and don't get a lot clock, "jack" made you proud. To sit there for an entire game, warm-up still on, no sweat broken, the bright lights shinning and be inserted in that situation had to be off the charts crazy for "jack".

 

For those not there you missed something special, the Augusta regulars found "jack" not once but twice on the same play same spot cutting baseline like "jack's" done it a thousand times. Each time his teammates never hesitated, the ball was simply passed to the open man.

 

Jack if your reading this I want to thank you. You and your teammates are what hs basketball is suppose to be about. It's a game I'll never forget and I'm sure you won't either.

Hold on, hold on. Are you telling me, that this team often compared to Hickory HS and Hoosiers, has Coach Dale (Kirk) going down the bench to grab Ollie (Laycock), insert him in late in the game, and after missing two FTs, hits the game winning basket??!!

 

I thought that's what you said! Unbelievable!! Congratulations to Hickory (Augusta). Save me a seat on the "River to Rupp" train. Very cool.

Why was he put in the game at the end? Did someone foul out or a hunch by the coach?

Am shocked that Connor Maddox gets very little publicity on this site or in general. This kid has been money for 4 years. Their 3 defeats of Mason County have been as much his doing as they were Brent Bach's ,when he was there. Maybe he uses that as fuel, because he always shows up when needed. Has he committed to a college yet?

His first 2 years he got open looks because of Brent bach...these last 2? He creates and gets his own open look (and sometimes not even open) and drains HUGE shots.

A really nice young man. Did anyone see him and Jake Ohmer shake hands and smile, as if two warriors acknowedging a worthy adversary just prior to the final battle. Forgot to mention this was with 30 secs to go and Scott readying to shoot 2nd FT. Thought this moment showed great respect and character from both competitors. Special moments of high school basketball at its best.

Noticed it...didn't mention it on our broadcast. Just let that go as a personal event between two incredible athletes.

4 quarters worth of takeaways from the game yesterday:

 

1. Living in NKY, that's to far to drive for a regional tournament. I don't blame the 37th for trying to get CCMS or NKU every four years if they can. Like I've said before move it to Mason and be done with it, it's just to far away from most of the region.

 

2. Jake Ohmer is the best player I've seen in the tenth region. That can be open for debate, but the next player I see in the tenth that can guard him will be the first.

 

3. The Augusta kids, not just Snapp, Maddox, and Crawford simply put are winners.

 

4. Can't help but feel a little for Brad Carr and his staff. They've been close so many times to going to Rupp since joining the tenth, and this may well have been the best shot they've had.

 

Overtime: Players from both teams showed a tremendous amount of class during and after the game. It reminded me of a fight that went the full 12 rounds and afterwards both hugged and shook hands. Good to see in this day and age.

Carr has had better teams playing in extremely tight regional semi's and a couple of region finals that did not go there way.

 

This Scott team is a 13-16 team that lost in first round of region. Even with Campbell Co losing did not see this team putting together a 3 game run.

13-16 with a brutal schedule. Beat both teams they could have played in the semis during the regular season as well.

When hasn't Carr played a brutal schedule? Traditionally plays as tough a schedule as anyone outside of probably Covington Catholic the last few years.

 

Has always scheduled top tier 10th Region teams and a few out of region highly ranked opponents and a top notch Christmas tournament. Throw in your NKAC/9th Region teams and always a difficult schedule. Nothing out of the ordinary this season.

I agree. Brad has had much better teams than this year!!
