February 29, 201610 yr Are you kidding me? Your arguments hardly take anything out of his legacy. Having a SB MVP or ring tells a lot more than an All Pro selection lol.Legacy has ZERO to do with being the most dominant ever. I'd argue that Barry Sander with a shorter career and no rings was a much more dominant player than Brady has been. Brady is a great QB, no one says he's not. But he was hardly ever in any year considered the most dominant at his position much less the entire league. You are a Brady Fanboy and I understand your feelings as such...but Brady IS NOT a Top 5 Most Dominant Athlete Ever as you initially stated. FWIW except for Gretzky, Wilt and a few others it's hard to put any team player on the list, because of so many other factors that go into winning.

And Brady has broken countless records in individual games. What else can Brady (possibly or impossibly) do to convince you that he is the best NFL player of all time? What else is needed to be proven? And what specific impacts are needed to be be considered one of the most dominant players of all time? Athleticism? Physical intimidation (ex: Wilt or Shaq)? Individual impact? I know for a fact that Brady is probably as unathletic as Manning. But when I think of dominance in sports, I think of how much other players in that sport matched up against that player. Brady as a quarterback, has dominated the game for more than a decade. He has been the bane of the NFL and still is. Every time the Pats lose I feel like the whole NFL just wiped their forehead. This is the reason I see so much hate and dislike for him. And no, I am not offended or hurt by what you said, because your arguments do not convince me to question my stance, nor am I insecure about whether Brady is the GOAT or not. Besides, most diehard fans would say he's #1 in any sport. I'm merely saying that he's up there.
February 29, 201610 yr How do you consider his records, W/L record, playoff records, overall NFL performance and his career success, and the fact that he is the NFL GOAT, and not consider him at least top 5? "He's great." So is Damion Lillard. There are many factors into winning. And Brady has broken countless records in individual games. Otto Graham holds that title. Look at his overall winning percentage--far higher than Brady's. Also, Graham played 10 seasons and had his team in the championship game all 10 of those seasons. His team won 7 of those championship games. This is why I said Brady needs to win more to be considered the most dominant player in his sport. He isn't. Not even the most dominant QB. Just my opinion, backed up with some solid reasons.

"Oh, well Brady didn't break this record, Brady didn't do this certain thing that this other player did, Brady hasn't won enough (Brady has 4 rings vs Otto 3, even though they are from different eras). I understand that you guys probably have a typical bias towards him, like I do with Eli Manning, but it doesn't take away the fact that Brady is definitely the greatest quarterback of all time.
February 29, 201610 yr People are blurring the lines with "most dominate" with "greatest of all time." Again, it depends upon your definition, but I think of "dominate" as someone being so far superior, generally by physicality, that there is no contemporary that can keep this person in check during a contest. I don't think we have to take the totality of a player's career to evaluate their domination level during a segment of their careers.

I am considering "dominant" as how well other players matched up against him. Or how well he defeated his opponents. Would you say that sounds right?
March 1, 201610 yr Bugatti has a point about the difference between dominant and greatest at a position and I like GoatMan's additions. That's why the ESPN list starting with Jordan, Muhammed Ali, Babe Ruth, Jim Brown, Wayne Gretzky is pretty hard to argue with. Ali was dominant, but not so much for his boxing as his persona and cultural stature. There have been more dominant boxers, Marciano for instance. That's why when Brady is mentioned among them I balk. He is a great qb, just not a dominant player in the same way those other guys were in their sports. In looking at QBs, I believe Otto Graham's accomplishments are more dominant than Brady's because of his winning percentage and playing in and winning championship games. Graham had his team in the championship game all ten seasons he played. Think about that. How many seasons has Brady played and how many Super Bowls was he in? Otto Graham's record is at 100%. Of the ten he was in, his team won 7 times--70%. He has 7 championship rings. Now that I think about it, that is pretty dominant. But i wouldn't put him up in the top ten of all-time dominant sports figures. As great as a player as he was, and as instrumental as he was in leading his team to that much success, it was still the team and its coach that was impressive and dominant, more so than the one player. He belongs in the list, just not among the top. Therefore, neither does Brady. Brady is a great QB. I'm not taking that away from him.
