February 28, 201610 yr Author I'd say Gretzky. If track and field is to be considered, Usain Bolt has been virtually unbeatable for a long time. As was Edwin Moses.
February 28, 201610 yr Jim Brown -- greatest football player ever, not just RB. RBs are still being compared to him and he hasn't played in 50 yrs. Rocky Marciano -- only undefeated heavyweight champ ever 49-0. He was a relentless brawler. And to think he wanted to be a professional baseball player but didn't pass muster in the tryout.
February 28, 201610 yr This was ESPNs list in 1999 of the Top 20: 1 Michael Jordan Basketball 2 Muhammad Ali Boxing 3 Babe Ruth Baseball 4 Jim Brown Football 5 Wayne Gretzky Ice hockey 6 Jesse Owens Track and field 7 Jim Thorpe Multiple sports 8 Willie Mays Baseball 9 Jack Nicklaus Golf 10 Babe Zaharias Multiple sports 11 Joe Louis Boxing 12 Carl Lewis Track and field 13 Wilt Chamberlain Basketball 14 Hank Aaron Baseball 15 Jackie Robinson Baseball 16 Ted Williams Baseball 17 Magic Johnson Basketball 18 Bill Russell Basketball 19 Martina Navratilova Tennis 20 Ty Cobb Baseball
February 28, 201610 yr Tom Brady is #5 at least. #1 is definitely Michael Jordan. No...Brady is great, but no way he is a top 5 most dominant athlete of all time.
February 28, 201610 yr IMO Edwin Moses as mentioned earlier...dude didn't lose a race for almost 10 years. Between 1977 and 1987, Moses won 107 consecutive finals (122 consecutive races) and set the world record in his event four times.
February 28, 201610 yr I have always wondered about Mohammad Ali being the greatest. You can look at several boxers who had better careers. Marciano, Robinson, Louis, etc.. I have always wondered if it was his explosive personality and his fight for civil right and the Vietnam War that propelled him higher in the mind of people.
February 28, 201610 yr No...Brady is great, but no way he is a top 5 most dominant athlete of all time. How do you consider his records, W/L record, playoff records, overall NFL performance and his career success, and the fact that he is the NFL GOAT, and not consider him at least top 5? "He's great." So is Damion Lillard.

"He's great." So is Damion Lillard. The GOAT should have more than 2 ALL-PRO 1st Team Selections, just saying. How can he be one of the top 5 most Dominant Athletes of ALL-TIME in all Sports and only be a first team All-Pro twice...meaning that for every year of his career, except for 2, another QB was considered the best in the NFL.

Are you kidding me? Your arguments hardly take anything out of his legacy. Having a SB MVP or ring tells a lot more than an All Pro selection lol.
