March 1, 201610 yr So if I arm wrestled against Rosey Grier and he beat me, which he would have, does that mean needle point is a sport? :sneaky: j/k. I really do think Tiger qualifies as a dominant athlete in his "sport."
March 1, 201610 yr 2008 Matt Cassel 63.4% Completions, 3,693 yards, 21 TD, 11 INT 89.4 rating 2009 Tom Brady 65.7 % Completions, 4,398 yards, 28 TD, 13 INT 96.2 rating When Brady was injured Matt Cassel wasn't that much of a drop off over Brady, heck the team had a more wins with Cassel than the season Brady came back. This makes it hard to argue that he is a top 5 most dominate athlete of all time. Great QB and one of the all time best, but football is such a team sport I'm not sure anyone makes that much of a difference individually. Heck the Broncos won it all this year despite Peyton Manning being on his last legs. I would argue that the most dominate athlete of all time is Tiger Woods. Other golfers feared him during his run. I cannot think of any other sport where the playing field was literally changed because he was so good. It would be like the equivalent of MLB moving all the outfield walls back to 500' because someone was able to hit a home run every at bat.
March 2, 201610 yr Bugatti has a point about the difference between dominant and greatest at a position and I like GoatMan's additions. That's why the ESPN list starting with Jordan, Muhammed Ali, Babe Ruth, Jim Brown, Wayne Gretzky is pretty hard to argue with. Ali was dominant, but not so much for his boxing as his persona and cultural stature. There have been more dominant boxers, Marciano for instance. That's why when Brady is mentioned among them I balk. He is a great qb, just not a dominant player in the same way those other guys were in their sports. In looking at QBs, I believe Otto Graham's accomplishments are more dominant than Brady's because of his winning percentage and playing in and winning championship games. Graham had his team in the championship game all ten seasons he played. Think about that. How many seasons has Brady played and how many Super Bowls was he in? Otto Graham's record is at 100%. Of the ten he was in, his team won 7 times--70%. He has 7 championship rings. Now that I think about it, that is pretty dominant. But i wouldn't put him up in the top ten of all-time dominant sports figures. As great as a player as he was, and as instrumental as he was in leading his team to that much success, it was still the team and its coach that was impressive and dominant, more so than the one player. He belongs in the list, just not among the top. Therefore, neither does Brady. Brady is a great QB. I'm not taking that away from him. "Brady is a great QB. I can't deny that." Lolol
March 3, 201610 yr Seriously Tom Brady doesn't sniff top 5 athlete of all sports , of all time ? He is one of the greatest QB's of all time but there are plenty of arguments to be made for other QB's.

The "Tiger Roar" as it was called when the crowd reacted to something that he did could be heard across the course and had an impact on other golfers. If they were leading they knew he was coming after them and if he was leading they knew he was pulling away. Golf Courses (even Augusta National) changed their layouts and added length to "Tiger Proof" the courses as he was making a mockery of the courses the way they were. Hitting wedges into most par 5's and every par 4 was unheard of before Tiger. For the first 10 years or so of his career, I think players paired with him scored 2 shots on average worse than when paired with another golfer. Tiger made GOLF....GOLF!!!, must see TV on Sunday afternoons.
