If you're saying because most folks lack the basic ability to think that one should never talk about anything related to Hitler then I'd argue that only exacerbates the issue. I'm not going to pass on interesting discussion due to a majority of people not being able to understand said conversation. They can go read the "poop" threads. I enjoy reading the political threads. It gets me to think about other views and ideas for the purpose of furthering what I know. I appreciate all the input. ....that said, sometimes the "poop" threads are good for a "temporary" respite from the world's realities!

Took advantage of personal charisma, new media and a poor economy to gain power. Apparently you perceive all of your woes in life to be Obama or Hillary's fault. There may be more to it than that. People who have been hurt by Free Trade, Guest Worker Programs and just about any Veteran who needs post duty support/health care are going to vote Trump regardless of ideology. I think his answer regarding people's feeling helpless in the face of "powerful forces that they do not understand and cannot influence" is basically the argument that I've been making - Trump and Sanders are born out of disaffection and where that disaffection is coming from ought not to be overlooked. I think the editors of the website might have used a bit of rhetorical sleight of hand to connect that to Hitler. Of course, I could be missing something. Chomsky's response to the question about whether TBTF banks should be split up was refreshing: "The consequences should be carefully explored. I haven’t done so." I contrast that with the non-stop punditry on cable news channels where I'm certain if this question was posed to a commentator there they would have spouted out an answer with no hesitation and with utter certainty without having "carefully explored" anything other than their prospects of future booking.

I'm amazed this one ever got off the ground at all. I appreciate your input and agree with a lot of what you said: the anti-establishment furor driving both Trump and Sanders is coming from somewhere, and that's worth exploring... but it was never really going to happen here.

For all the bad you-know-who did in the 30s and early 40s, one thing he did was took on the central bank in Germany. In fact - government-issued money is what drove the 'German miracle'. Central banks use to be debated as there are pros and cons. We seem to have accepted them and they now control most countries. Trump took a shot at the Fed recently. Rand has called for an audit. But going to government issued money has not been talked about since Kennedy. And Lincolns government issued Greenbacks are long gone. We seem to be stuck with the Fed's private bank money debt note and its oil-driven value.

Trump is an arrogant jack-wagon, but he's not evil. You should read it because you've completely misunderstood what he is saying. In no way is he comparing ANYONE to Hitler.
