They also worry about money: food and health care insecurity is "crazy high," with about a quarter of the city's residents reporting they couldn't afford food or a doctor's visit in the last 12 months, Witters said. "What we are really hoping, and the reason we release these rankings, is that it serves as a call to action; that it lights a little fire under the toes of the communities that are low on the list." The results are based on phone interviews with more than 353,000 Americans in 2014 and 2015.
February 24, 201610 yr Ashland is just a small chunk of the overall metro area. I blame the low ranking on the Ohio side of the pond as well as Huntington, lol. Ashland's not THAT terrible, I've visited several places a lot more miserable than Ashland in my lifetime.

The area has lost a lot of great jobs and people over the past 30-40 years with Ashland Inc moving, and Armco/AK steel not being near the productive plant it was back in the 70's early 80's.
