If LSU fails to make the tournament

However, if you want to be elite, UK is the place to get that work in.

Simmons is going to be the #1 pick, unless a franchise is foolish and takes Ingram. I'd say he's Elite no matter where he goes.

Guy probably wanted to play with his best friend. Simple as that. Saying a kid like Simmons just "can't handle the pressure of UK" is just dumb.

Only 5 people can play at one time. Not every single top recruit is going to want to play at UK.

Nor do they all care about winning a National Championship, although they all may say they do.

Maybe they just don't like Cal's style of coaching.

Or maybe he just received a better compensation package. It is LSU.

Or as a competitor he may want to take the challenge of him winning with less talent around him. Some people like that challenge. I know personally in college and especially during pick up games with teammates, I would take the more average players (as long as you could walk and chew gum) before I tried to stack my team. I got more satisfaction out of making my teammates better and winning with the "lesser" players and beating the loaded team. He may have felt what LSU brought back, him and Blakeney was enough to win the SEC and he was up for the challenge. Still going top 2 either way, at whatever school. I think it takes more pressure to put a team on your back night in and night out than play with a bunch of other stars. As a coach? Give me the stars. As a player? I wanna beat those stars.

Dude wanted to be the big fish in the small pond to showcase himself for the NBA. I can't say I blame him really. Probably not the way I would do it, but I can't fault him for that.

Like Cal always says, not everyone is cut out to play at UK.

Saying a guy wants to 'play with his best friend' is just dumb. Friends come and go but banners last forever.

:ohbrother:

Simmons was the #1 no matter what school he went to. I doubt he cares about banners.

Lots of package deals in the recruiting world. It was widely reported that one of his buddies was playing for LSU and it played a factor in his decision.

I doubt most of elite players care about winning banners. They will say they do because they are supposed to. But we as fans care way more about that banner than I'd bet most of the elite players do, especially the one and done players.

Even the players that come to UK, doubt it's hardly ever because they think its their best chance at a banner.

Im not far enough removed from Biily G to not be ecstatic about the players that choose ky. Ben Simmons choosing LSU is his decision. All I know is that he has super ability, hes fun to watch and he beat my team earlier in the season. Kudos to him and good luck

He went to LSU for one reason his Godfather is and Asst Coach.

Okay Kobe.

Kid should have went to UK where he could have been developed and played for National championship.

Same as the kid from Miss St.

Maybe other recruits will see this and come to UK

I think all the 5 stars should go to UK. Well, at least the top 7 or 8. :)

More like Johnny Moxon.

Thats a Bud Kilmer attitude if I've ever seen one.
