15th Region Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Follow link. Congratulations to all the winners of this award!!! Coach of the Year | Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches
AndOneDad Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 The Feldhause brothers carrying on a tremendous KY basketball legacy. Great job guys, I know your Dad is proud.
16thBBall Fan Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Noticed both Feldhaus brothers and also glad to see Jeremy Webb win the 16th from West Carter.
spindoc Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Congrats to Coach Simpson from South Oldham:thumb:. Great season so far. The guy gets it done.
sumoroyal Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I just have a hard time understanding how the Mason County girls coach never wins this award. Mason goes to final four and this year loses three games and yet coach Cox does not get the votes. I don't see how he could go any better next year, so I guess he will not win it again next year.

This is solely based on coaches voting from the region. Dont know them personally, but is this coach is not well liked amongst their peers?
Oldercoach Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Congrats to Coach Code of BB in the 10th. Love his style and the consistency of his program year-to-year. IMO No coach has done a better job than Brian Kirk at Augusta! He has taken 5 guards and made them play harder and smarter than any other team in the region. He inherited some solid experienced seniors, but they have blossomed into a TEAM that puts effort and unselfishness totally above self. They have bought 100% into his goals and coaching in-game adjustments to produce a very solid 20-6 record. I suspect he and the Panthers feel they have some unfinished business.
10thregionobserver Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Congrats coaches. Coach Code very deserving of the award. Frankly there are a couple of coaches in the 10th that did a great job with the players they have. Coach Kirk has Augusta playing at a very high level. Been doing it all year. Belcher at Pendleton loses Antrobus and I would be afraid to play him right now. Calvary Christians coach has done a good job. Taylor at St Pat has done a good job. Coach Brooks has been solid. He has turned Paris into a top team in less than 3 years. Coach Biggs has done a good job with the Royals. 10th has some solid coaches. And players to Boot
First Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) Let's see. Coach Cook has been at Mercer for 2 years. The year before he arrived, they were 11-12. Last year, they went 23-9. This year, they are 28-1. And that's not worthy of coach of the year? Nothing against Rock, but 18-11 with a good win over Wayne? The more I learn about the POY and COY process, the more I realize it's a JOKE. It's pure politics. Assistant coaches have votes too? Are you serious? I'm told some of these teams have 4 and 5 assistant votes while others (like Mercer) have 2. That makes sense how? If it were meant to be legit, there'd be one vote per school. No one in there right mind can argue that. Too many old farts that don't like someone new messing with the alignment of power in the region. It's ok to vote for Rock because, let's be honest, they're not a threat. This shows some real character. NOT. Edited February 21, 2016 by First
Lou21 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Why shouldn't assistants get to vote? They are paid members to the association just like the head coaches. I personally know some assistants that take their votes seriously.
sweet16 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Mercer only having 2 votes would actually favor them. They are only casting 2 votes for other coaches.
Mustang Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 We are very proud of Mike Code's earning this distinction in a strong field of 10th Region coaches this year. Mike views this award as an "us" award - the joint effort of every coach in the program, bringing about the success we have enjoyed this year. It is also a tribute to these players who, on paper were returning only two varsity starters - 19ppg between them. Those of us who sit in on practice fully understand why we are successful. We don't have a stable full of gifted athletes and have to excel on both sides of the ball to get it done. Having a player like Jackson Crawford blossom this year also helps.
TexasRanger Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Mercer only having 2 votes would actually favor them. They are only casting 2 votes for other coaches. If they only have 2 votes and vote for coach X and I have 4 and vote for coach Y, and coach Y not being Mercer how does that favor Mercer? If you have a real close race one or two teams carrying 4+ votes can swing the vote. Never heard of a voting process like that. Each team should get the same number of votes.
TexasRanger Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Mike Code is a great pick. Very deserving coach, who consistently takes the hand he's dealt and molds them into winners.
