I did not know this about December 19th. That is inexcusible. I can't believe the parents would stand for that type of situation. Very sad.

Well, they're all football parents, so

What was the JV result if anybody attended?

CCH by 19 or 20

This one went as expected. On to districts.

If you mean an easy CCH win, I agree. If you mean running clock at half and a 60 point margin, I disagree.

This is the same HHS team that played Newport to a 1 point game, hung with NewCath for 2 1/2 quarters, played Holmes very close for a half, and battled Holy Cross only to lose by 7. They beat a decent Lloyd team last Friday night.

Since the Lloyd game they have lost three games by 15, 20, and 60. Oh my.

I could be wrong, but this outcome was probably more of a statement to Holmes, than it was to Highlands.

Son (Kevin) just happened to get caught in the line of fire intended for Dad (Mike).

The program has not been good for the past 6 yrs. Scoring 29 vs Bellevue in a loss and losing by 60 to Covcath the day after a 20 pt loss to class A Beechwood. I'm at a loss for words. I feel sorry for alot of people.

Wow! That's got to have some folks wondering whether they have the right man coaching.

Until they find a guy that dismisses the football players. Early. They won't have the right guy

Sounds like a lot has changed since I live up there in 9th region land. Back in those days, the Highlands players would all play at the Ft. Thomas Armory year round. We used to come over from Florence and play against them and Highlands was very good. It was unheard of in those days for them to lose to a Beechwood by 20 points. Ken Shields had been at St. Thomas High School and he built Highlands into a power. I remember most of his first teams had virtually no football players. Sounds like that has become a huge issue up there in Ft. Thomas.

I believe a high school basketball coach has to use basketball-only players as his nucleus, and then if any football players can help, so be it. But you can't rely on footballers and start a schedule on December 19th. That is asking for trouble on a lot of levels.

I'm not following you. Not trying to be dense, but could you explain a bit more?

He means you build the program around Basketball only guys and mix in some football kids. You don't cut 4 games off your schedule, start on Dec 19th and wait for 10 football kids. The results would probably be the same but maybe only for a few years.

Wow...yeah, that's poor decision making right there.

The basketball ball guys need to be identified and developed. When my kids where there. The middle school teams were always good. But a huge majority were football players. By the time they got to high school, the non footballers sick of being overlooked moved on. So, sacrifice some success at the middle school level to DEVELOP talent for high school.

Any details Jack of all Trades? Crickets! :D

They have solid basketball only kids in the middle school now. Let's hope they stat at Highlands. They let the 9th Region POY walk 4 yrs ago.
