Really? Goodin is going to Xavier, which is better than UK this year. UK, meanwhile, brought in a complete bust in Skal, another All-American in Briscoe whom the fans are calling "Brick-Oh" because of his free throws. So just because UK recruits a player, does not mean they are going to pan out either.

 

Skal will still be a draft pick, goodin has a long way to go before being considered as a draft pick. Team success doesn't always equate with individual talent. Goodin is a nice player but hes not UK nice.

You never heard me hyping up Skal. Have said 2015 class stunk for a long time. 2016 is an all timer. Like Carson and Quentin a lot, but they aren't even remotely close to Bam, Fox and Monk. It's JV vs Varsity...

OO - I can't say that I agree with you. First off, the 1-year rule has totally changed the culture of NCAA basketball. People like to blame Cal. He was just ahead of the curve. Now Coach K does it & the overall conception is not as "evil". 2nd - I believe these 1 & doners are giving back / spending more time around UK just as much, if not more, than generations past. Finally, they are not all 1 & done. While some have left before they were ready (Dakari, Orton, Teague, Lamb, etc), there are examples of multi-year players too (Harrisons, Poy, Willis, Hawkins,).

 

That being said, I am old school enough, to have a little extra passion for the KY guys & hope there are 1 or 2 on the team at all times.

Noted and agreed. They are certainly not becoming beloved by the UK fans you hear on the radio talk shows, so you might be right.

I think what is causing a lot of your frustration is that in the past, players had to do radio talk shows and public relations type things like stay four years in order to raise awareness of their abilities. In 2016 however, the players' game speaks for itself and every game is nationally televised. Fans and scouts have no choice but to be aware of the best players if they are playing on tv every game. Granted, it is the fans who made that stage available to them, but at this point they have no need to become endeared or legends at a school. If they really had no loyalty to the school, more of these kids would jack up 25 shots per game and UK would perennially underachieve. That they are still capable of being good teammates speaks to their respect for the school and its fans.

 

Another shift is that people are increasingly fans of players rather than teams. I am a UK fan, but at my core, I'm a basketball fan. I have no qualms watching a superstar in the making take on a good team rather than subjecting myself to a 30-point UK thrashing of Appalachian State.

Like I said in other post I'll take Carson over anyone. Won't see a player work harder then him... NKU got a steal.. I'll put Carson against "Bam" any day

I am with you. I believe Carson will honor his commitment to NKU for four years unless there is a coaching change again. There was a coaching change last year, and I think Carson is comfortable with the current coach. I know he expects to either start or see extensive playing time next year, so he will have four years to show everyone in college his talents.

 

But let's not jump the gun. Carson still has lots of games left for Owen County!

Attendance is down in college football as well. Can't blame that on one and dones.

I think it's been pretty well documented that they are in fact going to class during the second semester and doing very well in class also.
