Even though he is our opponent, he is still a very good coach. Love his demeanor and know the Bears respect and listen. Is just going to take time, but expect them to be strong regional contenders next year. Losing Hamilton is a very difficult hole to fill. Most 10th Regional teams are not deep enough to fill this kind of vacuum. Hinson is building a program, not creating miracles. That's what I think BC wants.

As they say, everyone has an opinion. What happens next year is just that, next year. There is no excuse for bracken not to have a better season because there is stiff competition graduating in 2016. No question Crawford can be tough but it has been proven time and time again that one player can't carry the team.

It seems that all too often some coaches get a free pass. When a team defeats a tough opponent during a close game, coach is praised. When the same team is defeated the players are blamed. It's just comical to me, no matter if you're missing a key player or not. Missing a starter can be detrimental to a teams performance but the coaching staff must make adjustments.

What do you want the poor kid to do? He has to do most of all he work.

Well said! He doesn't deserve the critical comments about his scoring a lot but losing. Looks to me like he is doing all he can to win.

Interesting how these BC threads always end up about 1 Player and 1 Coach, seems a little counterintuitive to me to defend a loss that way or pin the loss on them solely either. Teams win and lose games period and when the tournament begins, winners advance and losers talk about next year. I suspect most people on this thread can tell you what team won their district and Region but very seriously doubt they can tell you how many points the runner up team's leading scorer had or what that coaches record was. Just my observation and MHO.

My thoughts exactly. You may have said it more eloquently than I did ;-)

it has been proven time and time again that one player can't carry the team.

Try asking Mason County in 2014 district.

I guess Bracken Co. will be offering Coach Brain Kirk of Augusta a coaching job now?

Great game to watch and well executed win by the Panthers! The Refs were really liking Crawford. They made him look like a superstar tonight and Bracken still couldn't come home with a W.

I'd also like some help with directions. Where is this "Hinson Magic" many have talked about on here for years? I just can't seem to find it. Can someone kindly point me in the right direction?

Same place it was in the Panthers Den on Feb. 13, 2015. Funny how you think a loss results to no "magic".

Just food for thought.

If you think Hinson to Bracken was about the here and now, stay tuned.......

Hinson can not turn everything around in one year but the kids are buying into his style. If you are a true Bracken Fan, you would see the changes. Kids are listening, working hard and people are coming to support. Things that has not happen in years!

I thought true fans out there decide to run off their coaches whenever things don't go their way?

What is all this hate on coach Hinson about anyone who has watched this Augusta team the last 2 weeks knows no one wants to play them right now and they should be favored to win region if it started today. Nothing more powerful than a group of seniors come district time that don't want their season to come to a end.

Augusta continued to play as well as anyone in the region. It took a few minutes to get going but once they did, the Panthers were not going to be denied. This was the first game, IMO, that the Polar Bears really missed Hamilton's scoring and overall presence on the floor. Crawford was the only one to consistently put the ball in the basket.

Meanwhile for the Panthers, Jared Shoemaker finished with a career high 25 points and did as he always does, slowly makes his way around the floor until he ends up in his favorite spot, the short corner, where most times he was wide open. Connor Maddox had just 10 points midway through the 3rd quarter then, spurred by his defense, seemed to be involved in every play when Augusta started putting this one away. His 29 led the Panthers including 9-9 at the free throw line. Camryn Snapp finished with just 8 points but made his presence known on the boards with at least a dozen or more rebounds. And none of these guys get the looks they got without the help of Owens Crawford who runs the point as well as anyone in the 10th region. I thought he did an excellent job early of drawing in the BC defenders that led to open looks for his teammates.

The Panthers will get Lewis County at home next Tuesday on what will be a very emotional senior night. Followed by a trip to Newport on Wednesday night to close out the regular season.

favored? not so sure on that, but I wouldn't want to draw them in the region, that's for sure.

Incredible group of young men and lost in all this is our Coach, Brian Kirk. Yes he has Senior, tested talent but what he has done and is doing with coaching these guys these guys and especially his player development will give meaning to "tradition never graduates" for a long time at our humble little school.
