February 6, 201610 yr Pretty good article saying Pitino's legacy may never recover from this latest scandal. Pitino's legacy may never recover from latest scandal
February 10, 201610 yr Author His legacy is fine with those who matter. I know that's what I took from the press conference Friday. But heard Matt Jones on the Paul Finebaum show yesterday still saying without a doubt that Pitino would be gone at the end of the season, and also ripping Mike and Mike for saying that they gave Rick a pass and only asked softball questions on their show yesterday morning.
February 10, 201610 yr I love me some Ricky P. but he should have been gone after the last sex scandal. THAT will be his legacy at UL to me now.

Matt Jones has to play to the sheep that make him "famous."
February 10, 201610 yr I love me some Ricky P. but he should have been gone after the last sex scandal. THAT will be his legacy at UL to me now. What sex scandal? Sypher? Had nothing to do with the school, and she was trying to extort him. Not at all the same, IMO.
February 10, 201610 yr I love me some Ricky P. but he should have been gone after the last sex scandal. THAT will be his legacy at UL to me now. Which also speaks to the legacy of Dr Ramsey and Jurich, especially coupled with their decision to endorse and hire Petrino.
February 10, 201610 yr What sex scandal? Sypher? Had nothing to do with the school, and she was trying to extort him. Not at all the same, IMO. I agree, not the same. But given that he is one of the faces of UL, the school becomes associated with it. People are punished all the time for conduct outside of the office.

February 10, 201610 yr I agree that it's associated with UL, but I disagree that it should be Pitino's legacy here.
February 10, 201610 yr Matt Jones has to play to the sheep that make him "famous." While I agree that a lot of UL fans listen to him, I don't think they are the ones that make him famous. :walk:

February 10, 201610 yr Retaining Pitino and re-hiring Petrino after the their troubles proves that UL is a win at all costs athletic program. Some schools cheat (hookers, academics, etc), others pay their coaches bazillions, some build cathedrals. UL has chosen to do all three.
February 10, 201610 yr I agree that it's associated with UL, but I disagree that it should be Pitino's legacy here. It's not his legacy there, just his legacy there in her eyes. His legacy there won't be as bad as it should probably be. He'll still be remembered for all the good that he did and not the Sypher Scandal or the Powell Scandal and that is because of the other things that Matt Jones said on Finebaum. The important basketball analysts love Pitino, so they aren't going to go out of their way to make this as bad as they could, like if it were other coaches, so his legacy won't be as negatively affected.
