February 5, 201610 yr The timing of this is odd. I had assumed that nothing would happen until after the season was over & that a postseason ban would be enacted next year. Why now? There's this pretty big sporting event going on this weekend that will likely keep the focus off of Louisville...:lol2:
February 5, 201610 yr Has U of L received a notice of allegations yet? If not, wouldn't this be more of a preemptive measure? You take the post-season ban (self-imposed) to potentially seem sorry and lessen the punishment, and to go ahead and get the clock rolling on the sanctions. If you're sanctioning yourself, you're really shortening the time of being in trouble because waiting means an extra year or two of negative publicity and negative recruiting before you're actually in trouble. Even if you end up with a 2 year ban total including time served, you're still better off. For the life of my I don't know why UNC didn't do that last year. I get this year where their a top contender.

If there hasn't been a notice of allegations, I doubt the NCAA has made a side deal with Louisville. This is the course of action taken by smart college programs. Dumb ones like USC get hammered. UNC will likely get hammered.
February 5, 201610 yr Andre McGee just became the most hated player in Louisville history. Their making the correct call let's go ahead and deal with the consequences.. Never heard any Louisville fan's thinking something didn't happen. Matt Jones can go suck a egg!! He's acting like he's enjoying this so hope this makes him happy. Cards be alright we lose Lee and Lewis and got everybody coming back plus a five star guard recruit coming in who's supposed to be the best during Pitino's tenure.

February 5, 201610 yr This is self imposed. Wonder if NCAA will add more? Has to be the end for Pitino right? I think his contract runs through 2017... If UL can't get a guy they want after this year, they will the year after. I see no way he's here past that.

He seems like a smart cat so it's weird to me to see him confused as to why the Kentucky media doesn't take him seriously when says stuff. If he wants to truly be considered a credible media source then he needs to change his ways big time. He's nothing more than a UK fan with a platform. That doesn't make you media.

Dumb ones like USC get hammered. UNC will likely get hammered. Jurich and Ramsey hired Churck Smrt on the day this started specifically to get out in front of it and work closely with the NCAA. I don't think Louisville does this if Smrt doesn't have some notion of what's coming down the pike.
