I don't think Pitino knew, but the rules say he's supposed to make it his damned business to know and then shut it down. He failed to monitor one of his employees who was trying to be a big shot. And it's going to cost this team, this school, and this town an awful lot of pride and not a small opportunity for this team to do something special.

Anyone who still thought otherwise after the book came out was deluding themselves. Anyone who thought otherwise after the interviews with the former recruits was a complete fool.

February 5, 201610 yr It's a postseason ban for THIS SEASON and that's from a good source Yep. This sucks for Damion Lee and Trey Lewis especially. All the players really. Maybe I'm in the minority, but if it's only one post season ban, it could certainly be worse.

I'm guessing they self-impose 1 year to avoid 2? That's my thinking as well. Obviously something foul went down, I'm not sure that we'll ever hear the full extent of it. Most people already agreed that was the case. It's a black eye for the basketball program and the University, but if this is all that comes from it, I am more than okay with it.

As for Pitino, he just addressed the media and denied any involvement in the alleged sex plot -- adding, "It's a mild understatement that I'm shocked at these allegations."
