If my school followed the KHSAA rules I'd cheer

If my school broke the KHSAA rules it wouldn't be "my school " any longer

True .....the All A us not technically "post season" but only because the KHSAA tournament is post season..... allowing Cordia to participate in the tournament breaks the "spirit" of the ruling

They're supposed to be suffering a penalty....for cheating and gaining an unfair advantage ....in a way which is serious enough to warrant a ban from the post season ......the ban serves 2 purposes .....it penalizes the offending school....and it protects the other schools from being forced to compete with a program that cheats

The spirit of the ruling was ignored by the ALL A.......end of story

I had a feeling there would be some great debate when I found out that Cordia won.

So I'm assuming that in the college basketball ranks you are NOT a Kentucky fan.

Why doesn't the All A recognize KHSAA rulings?

I don't blame the kids .... but they cheated .... we're caught and penalized and then allowed to play

Why wouldn't all the A schools just say "heck with the KHSAA, we'll cheat and win the All A" ???

The last A school to win the KHSAA state tournament was 1992 ....

Shelby Valley won the Sweet Sixteen just a few years ago after winning back to back All A championships. Not sure if they are a true "A" school or not, but nonetheless, competed in and won both tournaments.

I'm NOT a Kentucky fan.....I watched Patrick Patterson's parents get paid the whole time he was at UK ....

I stand corrected Shelby Valley won all A in 2010 and the State Championship ....although with an enrollment of 600 they're not A in football ......they're bigger than the "average" school in all the 10th region

But the from looking at stats from most of the games it looks as if Cordia forced teams to take to many bad shots and forced them into the tempo they didn't wanna play.

....and looking at the overall team and individual stats, they led or were near the top in just about every category....http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-boys-basketball/all-state-tourney-322064.html

10th region is unusual when it comes to enrollment size. Nine schools with under 400 total enrollment. Silver Grove (41) to Bracken County (375). Then a big gap to the next eight. Pendleton (736) to Clark (1652). Not sure how many regions are built like this.

Shelby Valley would fall in the gap.

Paintsville defeated Ashland in the 1997 KHSAA state championship. They were led by Van Hoose. However, they lost to Harlan earlier that year in All A state tournament.

I think Paintsville's enrollment usually averages slightly over 200 students.

I can't believe all the whining 'n crying in this thread, it's a shame this has taken the proverbial "wrong turn south of Albuquerque". Am I disappointed NewCath lost to Cordia.....hell yes! But the last hing I'm going to do is get on here and carry on like some of you are doing.....IMO it's pathetic!!

I don't recall ANYONE coming out of the woodwork to get their "pound of flesh" when Cordia won their 1st two games? These kids have gone through enough over the last few years and have stuck it out and were allowed to participate, so I applaud their efforts, no sour grapes from me.

This Lions team forced two really good teams into playing the worst game of their seasons, at least give these young men credit for that.

While some might not agree, including the NewCath faithful, that's my opinion like it or not.

I bet you did.

In the 14th region there's only 5 schools too large for the All A, and one of them is Knott Central which has played in the All A in the past. Their enrollment, like Breathitt's, is up and down and borderline.

We have 12 schools out of 17 competing in the All A. I haven't checked but I wouldn't doubt if that isn't the most in the state.

9th Region has 12 teams also, although Covington Latin did not participate this season.

Maybe it's just me but I think the State All A Trophy is 100% better than the Sweet 16 Trophy. Doesn't look like a generic cookie cutter trophy.
