Some kids that are flying under the radar but probably won't for long:

 

South Laurel: Jeff Ledford (LB) has a real nose for the football and will be the leader for SL on defense. Terry Bingham (WR) has been hampered by injuries but should be set for a bigtime senior season. Cody Quinn (RB/DB), came on strong as a soph about midseason and should be dynamite this season.

North Laurel: Shawn Asher (TB/TE/S) will be the key to the Jaguars offense this season. Chris Maggard (ZB/LB) has the ability to make plays for the entire game. Ryan Brandenburg (LB/FB) gets some attention, but his junior season in 2006 will show him at his best as a LB who has a nose for the ball and normally arrives at it in a very bad mood!

Leslie County: Ryan Howard and Brian Hubbard are the 2 bigtime playmakers for the Eagles who will open up some eyes this fall. Mark it down.

Louisville Western: The Collins kid is for real. I didn't hear hardly anybody talking about him last season, then you see his numbers, and they are staggering. This kid should be set for a HUGE season in 2006.

Whitley County: Jordan McCumbers the QB. As a frosh on a primarily run based offense, he looked pretty solid. Now as a soph on a pass oriented team with some solid receivers, watch out!

McCumbers is a junior but, I agree he should put op some big numbers. Other players at Whitley that have not been mentioned much in the press but, will be college prospects: Seniors: Cody Jeffries, Shaun Monhollan, Rob Cureton, Jonathon Bowman and Phillip Sasser.

Glad to see some objectivity used in the responses Im seeing here..... If we are to see 2 - 3 individuals step up and play outstanding offense or defense for the Tigers that would be great. At this point, I think it is early to predict these type of things.... time will tell...... And I cant wait...........:laugh:

Jake Neugent FB/WR/LB

Matt Mosier WR/DB

Tyler Day RB/LB

and Jarred Lucas RB/DB.

 

These kids will turns some heads, starting the first week I think.

For Russell ...Josh Wills ... should have a ton of tackles this year and lead the blocking in the wing t .. Also Aaron Beekman ... he'll throw himself into every play ..

For Lawrence Co ... Kyle Carter ... comes to play

For Ashland ... Fields Davis ... a stump who can play

There are so many underrated kids all over the state, some get the props they deserve and most do not. To many underrated players.

Was glad to see Jackie Marchetti, SR TB/LB from Highlands get some "press" in the BGP 3A preview. A hard-working kid who loves the game, paid his dues, and hopefully gets a ring !!

Antonie Robinson of Frankfort for the simple fact that he ran behind Alonzo Tillman last season and only had big games will Tillman was out.

Kyle Sublett, Shane Cantrell and J.J. Hensley from Paintsville.

Alex Wise for CCH he plays TE but often in the shadow of peter sutton and kurt bovard.

Corwin Hamon (spell?) LB @ St X. Transfered from Trinity and regained eligibility August 1. After a week of watching him practice, I am itching to see him is action.

Best of luck to Corwin, he is a good kid. Can be a good player if he stays focused, good speed and strenght.

But he needs to get back on the field before we can say that he is underrated??? He has not played for over a year and was not a starter at TRINITY??

Williamsburg scrimmaged Wayne County last week and from what I heard Aaron Root did quite well at the fullback position. Ran hard behind his pads and caught the ball well out of the backfield also. I was told he had over 150 yards total offense and held on to the ball well.
