Are any of you really bad about only scraping a little circle for you to look out of? I hate scraping the window so the moment I can sort of see, I hit the road. IT drives my wife nuts.

That's a little self centered. Think about others, what you do is rather dangerous. I left the airport with ice covered Windows a few weeks ago. Green lights blinded me. It was dumb on my part.

They sell that windshield and cowl cover on QVC that is held on by tabs that capture the cover when you roll up your windows, deterring theft. Mrs. S bought one for a friend in Chicago. She can't seem to be able to thank Mrs. S enough, it works so well.

Additionally, I wonder if there are any statistics that measure accident rates for distressed drivers. In other words, if you are cold in your car I believe it is more dangerous to your personal safety than being comfortable in your car.

I choose to not be a statistic…because I'm pretty sure if I don't keep warming up Mrs. BB's car it's going to be much more dangerous to my personal safety.

I don't really care if it's bad for the engine. If it makes it warm when I get in it, I'm okay with the trade-off.

I let my car idle at least 10 minutes In the morning. It may not be 100% ready to go but its closer to warm than cold when I get in. Now on the flip side, I let it idle about 30 seconds when I'm leaving work. I'd rather be warm than not for the drive to anywhere.

I simply keep mine in the garage to avoid any problems. :lol2:

It's illegal in Louisville. I start my car and then wa it fory windshield to be cleared and/or scrape, then I'm off. Usually 2-5 minutes is all it takes.

There are sometimes it is very dangerous, like in a gas station lot if you go inside to pay, or anytime you have a child in the car, or lots of other circumstances. But just warming your car up unattended as long as it is locked and "out of the way" I do believe it would be a cheap shot for an officer to cite you for it but you never know because it is law.

What about a Turbo Diesel engine? Noway you should just start and drive in these conditions. I have been told to even pre-start in the Summer months to let your Turbo warm up before driving. Anybody know? Just purchased a 2016 Chevy with the Duramax Diesel Engine in it....Went from a Ford 6.7 Powerstroke to the Chevy 6.6 Duramax. Thanks in advance!
