Today at CCH Team Day two kid runs a 4.3!!!!

Featured Replies

If you have two high school kids on your team that run 4.3 40 the coach needs to contact the Head Coach for the U. S. Olympic team. I'm sure those two young men will be a great addition to the team.

When I was in HS the coach told me I ran a 4.29, imagine my dissapointment when I recieved my real time of 4.48. I couldn't believe how slow I was. I was ashamed, I had told my brother and parents the first time and couldn't bring myself to tell them that it was wrong. Matter of fact, I never did.

BTW.. I had no idea how hard it was to run a 4.4 much less a 4.2. It was just a number I had heard that fast people had. People like O.J. Simpson, Archie Griffin, and Tony Dorset (who I don't think actually ran that fast either.) It was many years later before I fully appreciated it.:D

just go to the conbines and try to find a kid with that kind of speed, IT DON'T HAPPEN. Who is blowing all this smoke.

I agree that there is no way that they ran a legit 4.3 40. There are only a handful of kids in the state that can get down in the 4.5's. I don't believe a 4.3, the fastest kids in the state maybe run 4.4's:lol: MJK3490 lets hear where these stats came from.

If you would of read this whole thread you would know they came from the coach. I assure you, as cshs said, the times weren't just made up. They were the times that were recorded with the stop watch when they ran the 40 yard dash, but they were recorded by hand so obviously the accuracy isnt perfect.

Why is a 4.5 a stretch? Also when you compare 100 meter dash times in state rankings to 40 times I don't think some people are giving athletes in KY enough credit. I bet there are more 4.3-4.5 guys in this state than some are saying.

If I read UK's page right Duran Jefferson was clocked under a 4.5, and most people I talk to say he isn't even the fastest player on Holmes.

I'm sure there are some 4.5 guys in the area but 4.3 is something only a few reach at the Indy combine.

It has nothing to do with giving credit; it has to do with reality.

Most of the CB's in the NFL's 1st round of the draft were around 4.4-4.5; that is why a 4.5 for these high school kids is so improbable. They haven't even reached their maturation peak.

Do you understand how many 4.4-4.5 guys are on college rosters? Great speed does not always mean advancement in the sports. I have a buddy who ran a 4.4 in high school but only played football his senior season. Their are fast guys on rosters, that might not be good enough football players fot continue a career.

Actually I would be surprised if there were many 4.4 and 4.5 guys in Kentucky high school football. I watched quite a bit of the NFL pre-draft combines on the NFL Network and 4.4 and 4.5 guys were some of the fastest guys there. There were quite a few "fast" guys in that range, but these were some of the elite players from the college ranks. Times below 4.4 were few and far between.

I would say as a rule of thumb always add two tenths to coaching times and then you are close to the real times.

Either way, I am sure CCH has some studs, they ALWAYS do.

How accurate would you say laser timed 40's are?

I guess my only comment would be...... why does anyone care if a kid runs a 4.3, 4.5....4.6 ? All of these times are very good and what I consider verrrry fast. If a kid runs a 4.4 and not a 4.3 does that mean he doesnt outrun someon for a 20 yrd TD after a nice block by a 250lb lineman who only runs a 5.0 40 yrd dash????

Starting a thread like this was foolish..... should have just said, Cov Cath has some smokers and their clocked times were VERRRRRY FAST.

No way. No how...this did NOT happen./

This is a big joke im sure.. no way this happened..looks like someone is just blowin smoke!

Again, to somewhat defend MJK, he and Covcathftball both heard coaches say "4.3". They're simply repeating what was said.

Which is why I told my story, I was trying to illustrate that 4.3, 4.4, or 4.5. A kid being handtimed probably isn't getting an accurate read, but that doesn't mean they aren't fast. Revel in it boys whoever you were, and good luck. I'm sure that if you run a laser timed 40 the time would vary a couple of tenths with each attempt. But who cares. We get it, your fast. Can't wait to watch you guys play some ball. Thank God it's almost here!

I never understood why people get so worked up over what they know are inaccurate times to begin with.
