All State Baseball Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Drunken drivers would have to wait 10 years for convictions to come off their records under a bill that has cleared the state Senate. First-time drunken drivers often avoid jail time. But second and third offenses require jail time, with a fourth offense earning a felony conviction. But drunken driving offenses only count against each other if they occur within a five-year period. A person with a previous drunken driving conviction is treated as a first-time offender if the first offense occurred more than five years ago. The state Senate voted 35-1 on Wednesday to increase the time period to 10 years. State corrections officials say it will likely increase the number of repeat offenders, thus adding to the state's prison population. Drunken drivers would have to wait 10 years to clear records
sportsfan41 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Good. I watched a guy the other day get charged with his second in 5 years. He's had 5 in the past 10 years.....
LIPTON BASH Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I've said this a million times thsee type of laws are band aids and cause more problems. It's very simple to eliminate a majority of drunk driving. Our leaders don't have the guts to do it to the auto industry.
OlDog75 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I'm assuming this will be the same for marijuana DUIs as well when it becomes legal in KY?

LIPTON BASH Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Explain please. What's very simple? Guts to do what? I'm normally an extreme libertarian and anti regulations. But it would seem the more efficient stop would be to mandate car manufacturers to put a breathing device on all new models. Stricter laws don't stop crime it's proven over and over. It just increases prison population. Like drug users , most multiple time offenders have a disease or problem. I'm not for drinking and driving I'm just for the most sensible solution.
Hellcats Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 In 10 years all new cars will probably drive themselves. Problem solved.

LIPTON BASH Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Please tell me you don't really believe these devices would solve the problem. I believe it would help a lot more than just more punishment.
LIPTON BASH Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Mcpapa just liked two of my posts , think it's past his bedtime.
