So much for sitting out a year, you had to know he wouldn't settle for that without a challenge. Unfortunately he has noone to blame but the adults who surround him.

Guess who else his lawyer represents??? :sssh: :D

Is it Huggs attorney?

Is it Huggs attorney?

Yup...

Is Katz doing this pro bono?

Is Huggins giving him money?

This is a little fishy in my opinion...Katz representation that is.

This sounds like a cut and dry issue, from the OHSAA.

Parents legally can not hold their children back in school. It is a joint deal between the schools and the parents. There has to be documentation.

Just how old is Walker?

If he played the semesters he was reportedly to have played at Rose Hill, those have to count against Walker.

His father cannot just arbitrarily hold him back a grade.

I would assume that the record transfer from one school to another is accepted as legal record, particularly if it is a continuous education process, following grade in sequence.

Accepting the records from one state to another is similar to states accepting the licensing of drivers in one state to another.

Holding a kid back grade wise by a school with disregard to student record is a no-no, particularly with eligibility.

This was attempted by a school in NKY dealing with a transfer from another school.

Since NCH is not appealing this leads me to believe there is nothing they can do and it is up to Walker to prove his situation, probably the challenge of his time at Rose Hill and the interpretation of his status there.

On good faith NCH is accepting the record of what Rose Hill has given them, as interpreted by the OHSAA.

I agree. I'd guess the NCAA will be watching this closely. If this is a "pro bono" case, I simply cannot see how the NCAA lets Bill go to K-State.

I'd be curious to hear how Katz thinks he can win this case. It seems cut and dry to me.

A little fishy, or a little unethical?

From what I've heard, he's going after the fact that he never finished 8th grade. No chance at all...

I don't believe that NCH is doing anything in "good faith". There are a goodly number of unanswered questions about the conduct of NCH and its people during the courting, negotiating, arrival, and stay of Walker and Mayo at NCH. I think that NCH is taking the quiet, passive approach on the record but are, shall we say, "active" in this appeal.

Indeed, it would be interesting to see who is paying Katz. Of course, it would also be interesting to know how the "entourage" made its living during these last three years. Really, this whole matter is a good opportunity for an investigative reporter to make a name for himself/herself. Too bad that no one seems interested in doing so.

Having said this, I still see Bill Walker as the victim. He deserved/deserves better. I wish for him only success and happiness. He has worked hard to reach his goals and he will make it in spite of the leaches- both individuals and institutions.

A little fishy, or a little unethical?

Either way, this is nothing to take lightly.

We are dealing with benefits to a high school kid.

Whether it be money or services.

I'm probably being the master of the obvious here but perhaps some of our readers don't understand how it works.

Pure and simply your eight semesters of eligibility starts the moment you enter your freshman year. If you fail or repeat a year your clock continues ticking and expires at the end of your eighth consecutive semester.

Bill was a freshman at Rose Hill and therefore his eight semester clock began ticking at that point and expired at the end of his eighth semester - the completion of his junior year at NCH. There is no "red shirt" clause.

Bill left Rose Hill mid-season of his freshmen season and transfered to NCH as an 8th Grader strictly in order to play on the 8th Grade AAU team that had played together and won nationals (?) the previous year.

His handlers should have thought about this before he ever attended his first freshman class at Rose Hill. By the time that he made the transfer to NCH it was too late.

The one thing you miss is Walker was never really an 8th grader. He went from 7th WITH OJ to 9th...
