As always, Rickyp is factual. I would make one minor adjustment to his post. I think Rickyp is a year behind in his chronology. Bill came to Rose Hill as a sixth grader and left after a month or so to return to Cammack in Huntington as a seventh grader in 2000-2001. He was an eighth grader in 2001-2002 as described by Rickyp. He returned to Huntington St. Joseph to start the 2002-2003 year and transferred, much to the chagrin of HSJ, to Rose Hill as a ninth grader in October of 2002. He left Rose Hill in early in 2003 and enrolled as an eighth grader at NCH.

 

Many, including the OHSAA, ask how both Bill and O could be in the sixth grade at Rose Hill in 2000-2001 and, when Bill returned two years later, he was a ninth grader and O was an eighth grader. The answer, of course, is when he returned to Huntington, he was placed in the seventh grade and not the sixth grade. Actually, nothing sinister at all. That is just how it was handled.

 

I continue to question NCH's claim of ignorance as to what took place. Actually, if you bother to seek the facts, it is quite simple. Surely, NCH would have checked it all out, don't you think?

 

Like I said it has been a few years so my memory isn't what it used to be.

Both can get, or have, the answers and chose not to speak about it on here and I'm not sure I blame them....As scooter says somebody might make a name for themselves when they figure it out.

Actually, onetoya, we do know the facts and we have stated them in reply to the questions of others. Since you like to say that Rose Hill gave Walker bad advice, maybe you should back it up with facts. Instead of butting into something that you know absolutely nothing about, I would recommend that you research for us just exactly how that car left Minnesota for New Jersey, broke down in Coal Grove, Ohio, had the occupants, other than the athlete, end up at Boyd County with, of course, the athlete at Ashland. I checked Mapquest several times and it just doesn't work out. Since Rickyp and I have the true facts on Bill Walker, maybe you can solve the geography matter.

 

By the way, I believe onetoya is one of those who chided us about the "Christian education". I can't speak for other Rose Hillers but I personally enjoy the fact that some Ashlanders can't seem to get over those two years. By the way, the next six or seven years won't do much to mend the fences or lower the blood pressure unless, of course, you guys become the "Czech Republic- Blazer Blvd. Branch".

 

No hard feelings intended. Just part of the usual give and take in the northeastern part of the Commonwealth.

As far as the rest of the findings...I agree with scooterbob....There could probably be a Dateline Story on this mess. I know you guys HATE to hear an Ashland guy chime in on this thread, but I think we're seeing things more alike than anyone would have ever thoght we would 5 years ago:D

As for seeing things alike, I don't think that is remotely the case and it won't be for a number of years. Really, it would be a shame if we did agree because it would seriously reduce the discussion on BGP. Of course, we need to keep in mind that this is merely advocacy for our point of view and not anything that should create personal animousity. Shoot, we all love you guys as individuals. We just don't like some of your "tactics".

 

Gametime is correct. The transfers from the sixth grade on are relevant in order to get a true picture of what took place. The facts in regard to those transfers are set out above.

I really like Bill Walker, I always thought he had a side that very few people got to see because of his on court demeanor. I don't feel sorry for him though. The fact is that Bill will find somewhere to play this year and make millions of dollars in the next few years and I hope he does. This is a young man who had very little his hole life and I hope things turn out the best for him.

 

It is the situation that I dispise. Since he was a preteen he has had people living off him in one way or another and the same people are responsible for this situation. The sad thing is they will continue to live off of Bill until he is no longer useful to them.

 

Think about it for a second. 5 schools in 4 years in 3 cities, heck 3 different states. He was in the 6th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 8th, and 9th grades all in 5years. In 3 out of 5 years he was in 2 different grades. Like I said 3 years ago how can this be in the young man's best interest? Like scooterbob said we as a society failed Bill Walker.

Nope....The people in charge of those kids "failed".....You can try to influence, but when it all shakes out the people that tried can not assume ANY guilt.

I disagree. There were/are a lot of contributors to the problem who weren't "in charge" of the boys. They must share the blame.

 

But, as Rickyp said, in a couple of years both boys will have more money than any of us can imagine. The key is for them to rid themselves of those who are still hanging around with their purses both empty and open.

WHAT!!! Are you trying to tell the WORLD that the ULTIMATE control over a kid less than 18 years old does not fall directly on the parent or gaurdian??? What they don't have a backbone???? ITS CALLED MY HOUSE!!! Get out or else If I'm that parent/gaurdian:sleep:

What on earth are you trying to say? I can only understand English, a little Spanish, a goodly amount of Latin, and some German.
