The NFL sucks. It's not like the fans stopped showing up to games, they still averaged like 86% capacity for the year which isn't terrible. This is just a greedy owner who wants to line his pockets with more public money, even though he's already worth 7 Billion dollars... Stupid

It's taken me twenty years to STOP calling them the LA Rams. Now I have to change back?!

 

Also, my dad never quit calling the Raiders "Oakland." He was right, wrong, right again.

Can't wait for a small group of privileged folks to push that stadium deal through and try to poach someone else's team.

 

Small is beautiful, folks. The NFL is too big for its own good. Local teams, local control.

 

I'm not the first to say it, but as long as there is one more city than there is teams, then NFL wins.

I didn't realize that the Rams had been the worst team in the NFL over the last nine years or so.

I really feel for all the fans in St. Louis right now losing the team they have supported for the last 20 years. Granted, it was probably the same for Los Angeles back then when the team was moved to St. Louis. I just hate how these owners negotiate with the cities and take advantage of them. They and all sports teams make money hand over foot it refuse to open the books and show what they are making when it's clear they can finance their own stadiums. Yet these owners put the stadium risks and financial issues in the city without taking much of the responsibility themselves.

 

On the other side this means that other NFL teams will very little leverage when negotiating with their cities on stadium issues as they can no longer threaten to relocate to a huge vacant market like Los Angeles as they will be host to the Rams and probably the Chargers.

 

Overall, this is just dirty business and makes me want to watch the NFL less and less. That also goes for the other sports when they hang relocation over cities when negotiations new stadiums. Something needs to change and soon.

Greedy owner is actually turning down $400 million in tax payer funds from St. Louis to build a $2 billion LA stadium with his own funds.

 

Yes he may make more money in the end...but he's doing it without fleecing the locals to pay for it.

From what I understand was that they wanted $700 million from the city for a 10-year lease which the city didn't want to do. That's almost double than what the city wanted to offer.

I think he made that offer knowing they wouldn't do it...In the end he's paying half a billion relocation fee to the other owners plus paying to build the stadium without taking money from LA.

 

Could have saved the better part of $2 billion of his own money to stay in St. Louis.

 

They were talking this morning that he may not remake the money he is spending in his life (he's going to be out at least $2 billion of his own money)...but in the end his proposal was the best overall for the NFL.

Looking at the franchise as an asset, it seems something of an obvious decision. Just the location in LA will probably instantly double the re-sale value of the franchise.

I agree, the value of the Rams instantly doubles (at least) the day the new stadium opens.

I was wondering that too, but I've not seen that it was reported yet. I would guess the Raiders and Niners owners maybe.

Move or moves? Because I'd imagine the Chargers and Raiders opposed the Rams move, while I have no clue as to who might have opposed the moves of any team.

Not sorry for St. Louis. I wouldnt go there either.
