I have no idea what happened in 2012, I haven't seen the game film, so I have no point of reference to respond to whatever that situation is.

 

Now about you identifying those guys in the lineup that are just out there to be part of the show.....

Since you are taking the side of the officials, shouldn't the blame go to the clock operator who sounded the horn prematurely? That is what misled the kids and fans to rush the floor.

 

Nope. When clocks hit zero the horn sounds automatically. The scoreboard operator doesn't sound the horn at 0.0 on the clock. Scoreboard operators don't have the luxury of replay either and they have to rely on hand-eye coordination to stop the clock. I'd say the scoreboard operator stopped the clock at the exact same time he always does on a made basket when under 1 minute on the clock.

So what was the T for in that rule? Because if its the "followers entering the playing court before the player activity has been terminated", the player activity was terminated when the clock went to 0.0 and the horn sounded.

No. Spoken as someone who has played basketball for more than 30 years, covered it professionally for 6 years and watched more than 100 games per year during those 6 years.

So when a team is getting beat pretty good and the coaches/players get in their hand shaking lines while someone is still dribbling out the clock, which happens quite a bit in college games, there should be technicals?
