January 12, 201610 yr Author A huge issue to some. A non-issue to some. I for one wouldn't call it a "state of planet Earth" issue. But as I have often said, it would be a mighty boring place if everybody walked alike and talked alike and thought alike. Its been one of the most debated topics of this year. Heck there was talk that Time might name Kim Davis person of the year.....Which was only talk.
January 12, 201610 yr And this is right. I am sometimes guilty of that. And I am wrong for highlighting one over another. Its just this has been such a huge issue is why I included it. It's a huge issue because of centuries of discrimination by "Christians" against homosexuals. Now that people are coming around to the fact that gay people don't automatically have cooties, it's become even more of an issue because those gay people who used to be frightened into silence are now speaking their minds. Those who have enjoyed the majority opinion don't like the fact that they are now being marginalized, when they used to relish the role of doing the marginalizing.
January 12, 201610 yr I am sometimes guilty of that. And I am wrong for highlighting one over another. We ALL are guilty of many things. If it wasn't for us having a very loving Father, and a VERY forgiving Father we all would be toast.
January 12, 201610 yr But, when I first saw this thread, I was thinking like, State of the State, State of the Union. I was expecting Mother Nature to be speaking, lol. Of course I'm heavily medicated today, lol.

January 12, 201610 yr I dont ignore the divorce teachings. Jesus himself said: “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” Adultery is a sin too. In that you are 100% correct. But notice Jesus himself specifically says "and marries another woman". Think about that....And the Bible says he was talking to the Pharisees which were all male. You took a look at the world and started this thread with a list of things of concern to you. You included a moral issue, LGBT rights, which was never expressly addressed by Jesus, and you made that your sole moral issue. So I think the criticism that you, and many other of the vocal MINORITY of christians, are focused on condemning gay people more than anything else. If I am wrong, where are all the threads about the beatitudes?

We will have to agree to disagree on this one issue. I am not changing you and you will not change me. Im good with that. But you are very very wrong on what most Christians think. I could have easily said unless you change your ways, your sins will condemn you to hell but I never. :thumb:
January 12, 201610 yr Sorry for your look of lack of understanding, due to your lack of knowledge of the situation. I still struggle to put this into words, but here it goes. You realize you admitted that there are extreme Christians; however, you marginalized any damage they do because they are in the minority, right? You also realize you alluded that it is up to Christians to inform people when they are not living by God's law, right? I hope upon second reading you see how these statements come across to those who read them. (Thank you Mr. Hart for the appropriate look of shock)
January 12, 201610 yr So where do you stand Jimmy? Like a lot of people, the family connection softened a lot of my views. I used to say some nasty things back in the day. Then I actually met some gay people and it made me question some things. Then I saw how my aunt and uncle would browbeat my cousin with religious arguments to the point where he said to hell with them and moved to Portland. And I don't blame him one bit. I have my doubts about these "gay friends" you mention and whether they actually consider you a friend. I also think that you could use some gay relatives in your life to make you think a little harder about your stance.
January 12, 201610 yr -tags Jim's hand and climbs out of ring- This is a good game, gonna watch it closer. Peace.

Some of my gay friends you know......and even if my own daughters were "gay" I would still love them, but I would tell them just what I have said in here. I have never browbeat not one of my friends for being Gay or being divorced or for being a drunkard or a druggie. I have had them all...and I certainly have not been a Angel either. But that does not answer my question to you? Is this sin? Or is the Bible a fluke?

(Thank you Mr. Hart for the appropriate look of shock) I do not know why it is so hard to understand why one should point out when another is violating God's word. I do know that the person violating the word does not want to hear it, as they enjoy their immorality and do not want to give it up.
