January 12, 201610 yr I think I will just leave this thread as a 'safe place' for those who cannot handle someone who is not PC. Stay safe in your insulated world. Apparently you are the one that needs to stay in their "insulated" world because you don't seem to deal too well with people questioning your posts.
January 12, 201610 yr A few answers for you, the last one is the most important imo. 1. Pointing out to people when they are violating God's word is kind of a "holier than than you" move. 2. Didn't Jesus say to be concerned about the beam in your own eye before addressing the speck in someone else's eye? Even Jesus knew that 1. above is pretty important. You guys litter our public arena with condemnations of others, where are all the threads where you address the beams in your own eyes?. 3. A person's sexual preference is part of their identity as a person. To say "hate the sin, love the sinner" does not work because the so-called sin is part of their identity. Telling someone that they are deficient, or not as good, or anything like that on the basis of how they are born is to marginalize them as a human being. I do not think that the condemnations of gays are done with good intent, but to give you the benefit of the doubt, your intent is irrelevant. You can't diminish the humanity of another person and then shrug it off because you claim good intent and then act like "hmmmmm, i don't understand it why they don't like it." 1. Jesus told Christians to spread the Gospel which includes telling one what is a sin. 2. In the same verses Jesus also said not to cast pearl before swine. 3. The Bible teaches to speak truth in love. Sorry if you don't like it but that what the Bible teaches. If you are telling the poster he is wrong for his view, you are doing the same you are accusing him of. Remember the splinter and beam verse.................
January 13, 201610 yr Author Boy this sure was an exhausting, yet interesting 148 posts read, and though JJ seemed to want to address many various legitimate issues, he has himself only to blame that it hasn't panned out that way, for he tried to sneak within his initial questioning, his own moral stance, which others couldn't help but to cry foul with his initial premise being deluded with poppycock. I can certainly see where others had trouble getting past the nonsense to ultimately make attempts at addressing all of the other issues presented, when they understandably felt it necessary to first scrape away the junk before getting to it. I want so badly to limit anymore of my exhaustion, so I'll try to avoid the temptation of adding my typical two thousand cents, and many here have already done a fine job of echoing lots of things that I might've said anyhow. The thing that stands out to me greatly by what some have contributed, that is as equally comforting as it is refreshing, is that there is an increasing amount of straight folks who "get it". Sure gays "get it" because they "are" and have had to most of their lives give the whole topic a ton of thought related to who they are, and where they fit into this society, but it's commendable for straights who don't necessarily feel forced to understand, but give it good thought anyhow, and are capable of arriving at their sound understanding. Just as it has always been, it's still frustrating and puzzling that some don't, but believe me I'm certainly used to that, as that is nothing new. It would have been interesting to see where this thread could have gone if it initially had been started minus all of the "so called problems", but 8 pages in it appears to be a little too late for that unless JJ can rethink and grasp how to better present his initial topic, and perhaps start a brand new thread that gets into discussing the meat of the other legitimate issues, and finding solutions for them. Let me address the above bolded. JJ addressed exactly what he intended to address and presented the topic exactly as I wanted it. You must not have read my posts very good( I am sorry you are exhausted) as I said more than once I thought this through before posting it. As for me standing behind my "words which make me look silly" thats very true. Problem is with alot of Christians in todays world is they are about half in and half out. One foot in the church and one foot in sin. A cookie cutter Christian so to speak. They are easy to deal with. Do not want to offend anyone and just lets all get along. "CoExist if you would. Never really taking a stand for what is Biblical. See thats what most of you have encountered. When someone like me or Bballfamily comes along in todays society we seem very brash or intolerant to the feel good "Joel Osteen" Christians of today where its a motivational speech and no sin is called out. Jesus himself in Matthew 10: 34-40 said "34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. 40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. So when someone calls sin out, it becomes very uncomfortable for the offenders. I stated in a earlier post that Jesus did this very thing and was crucified for it. And when people are confronted with the fact that the Bible( or Jesus ) says what you are doing is wrong and will send you to Hell they become offended. See Jesus told the Sadducees and Pharisees the same and cautioned the people that " Unless your righteousness exceed that of the Sadducees and Pharisees you will in no wise enter into Heaven". That made them mad and they ridiculed him, much of the same way you have myself and others in this thread, but lets go on. Why did I decide to include the LGBT movement? Because of declining morality equals problems in our nation and the world. Galations 6:7 says :Be ye not deceived, God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that also shall he reap". Call it Karma or whatever. Whether you are a Christian or Atheist or whatever, you will reap what you sow. All the way from one of the Bible to the other this is been showed time and time again. Christians who know the Word understand that Immorality will eventually bring judgement, and that judgement can be personal or corporate. Gods judgments can come on certain individuals or on countries or nations. That would include anyone to a extent thats living let say in America if God so decided to render a judgement( and he is going to) for immorality. I for one dont want to suffer judgement and problems in our nation for immorality. Thats why this stuff will eventually affect us all in one way or another. Which one of you men or women would marry or have sex with your sister, mother, father or close kin as well as sleeping with animals? Leviticus Chapter 18 lays all that out very clearly. I mean we go to jail for incest and such correct? Well I guess that is all good as even the most challenged mentally knows better than this right? Well smack down in the middle of all that God says this : Lev. 18:22 "Thou shalt not lay with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination". Yes thats what he said, right in between the verse telling the people not to pass the children through the fire of Molech which was sacrificing innocent children and burning them alive( I think you all would at least frown on this right?) and the next verse telling the people not to have sex with animals( I also think most of you think thats kinda gross too right?) God told the people to not to have homosexual relations and in the same chapter and verses next God said this: 24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: 25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants. 26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: 27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;) 28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you. 29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people. 30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God. So you see this might be a little more serious than some of you half baked Christians and heathen think. God declares a statement in Malachi 3:6 when speaking to the sons of Jacob that " For I am the Lord, I change not" letting them know he was always was always will be correct and his judgments are always fair and correct. So knowing that God said these things and put the verse about laying with mankind as with womankind right in between not having sex with animals and burning your kids as a sacrifice, I guess we think we are smarter than God and we as a human race are going to say hey this one part here is good? Dont think for a moment that judgement is not coming for sin. But I will stop there( and this is not a copy and paste post either) and I could go on and on boring you people with Biblical verses but I wont. Hey its all made up anyway right? Just a fairy tale.......
January 13, 201610 yr Sure looks like a copy-paste scenario given the font changes within your post. And it's amazing how often it always comes back to Leviticus to firm it all up, where "Christians" gleefully cherry-pick what they like and toss aside that which they don't want to bother with.
January 13, 201610 yr It's been said before, but I'll say it again: I'd take all the pontificating a lot more seriously if this issue wasn't elevated to the top of the heap as though it's worse than murder. I'd like to see more "Christians" worry about their own house before calling out everybody else's dirty porch. That's why the Kim Davis thing didn't work — she's OK with multiple divorces, but seizes upon the gay issue as the worst thing ever.
January 13, 201610 yr Author Sure looks like a copy-paste scenario given the font changes within your post. And it's amazing how often it always comes back to Leviticus to firm it all up, where "Christians" gleefully cherry-pick what they like and toss aside that which they don't want to bother with. I did copy and paste most the scriptures I wanted to use to save time.Got tired of trying to straighten the font up. Thought about this all day. And lastly Jim is this the best you can do? You say you believe. I quote it straight and you come with copy and paste and go back to Leviticus? You want me to copy and paste Romans 1? I can go on and on like I said. The OT example I gave is still true today. God dont change Jim, we do. Why not comment on having sex with animals or moms ,dads etc? Whats your take on that being its all grouped together? And being you brought it up here you go in the ERV Version( Easy to Read): 20 There are things about God that people cannot see—his eternal power and all that makes him God. But since the beginning of the world, those things have been easy for people to understand. They are made clear in what God has made. So people have no excuse for the evil they do. 21 People knew God, but they did not honor him as God, and they did not thank him. Their ideas were all useless. There was not one good thought left in their foolish minds. 22 They said they were wise, but they became fools. 23 Instead of honoring the divine greatness of God, who lives forever, they traded it for the worship of idols—things made to look like humans, who get sick and die, or like birds, animals, and snakes. 24 People wanted only to do evil. So God left them and let them go their sinful way. And so they became completely immoral and used their bodies in shameful ways with each other. 25 They traded the truth of God for a lie. They bowed down and worshiped the things God made instead of worshiping the God who made those things. He is the one who should be praised forever. Amen. 26 Because people did those things, God left them and let them do the shameful things they wanted to do. Women stopped having natural sex with men and started having sex with other women. 27 In the same way, men stopped having natural sex with women and began wanting each other all the time. Men did shameful things with other men, and in their bodies they received the punishment for those wrongs. 28 People did not think it was important to have a true knowledge of God. So God left them and allowed them to have their own worthless thinking. And so they do what they should not do. 29 They are filled with every kind of sin, evil, greed, and hatred. They are full of jealousy, murder, fighting, lying, and thinking the worst things about each other. They gossip 30 and say evil things about each other. They hate God. They are rude, proud, and brag about themselves. They invent ways of doing evil. They don’t obey their parents, 31 they are foolish, they don’t keep their promises, and they show no kindness or mercy to others. 32 They know God’s law says that anyone who lives like that should die. But they not only continue to do these things themselves, but they also encourage others who do them. Edited January 13, 201610 yr by Jesse James
January 13, 201610 yr You're the one who went back to Leviticus to strengthen your argument. You munching on some shrimp? Plucked your eye out lately for checking out chicks?
January 13, 201610 yr Author You're the one who went back to Leviticus to strengthen your argument. You munching on some shrimp? Plucked your eye out lately for checking out chicks? Care to comment Jim on what I wrote? I am giving it to you straight. Dont change the subject. Dont run and hide on the issue Jim. Weak. Thats Romans 1 Jim. New Testament. Care to comment if you want to discount the Old Testament. God dont change Jim.

Care to comment if you want to discount the Old Testament. God dont change Jim. Maybe not. But humans sure do love to interpret God's words in a whole discombobulated menagerie of ways, to the point where I tend not to put too much stock in humans' interpretations of His word. For that reason, and others, I'm not going to get in a tit-for-tat on Bible verses with you. I have my own ideas of how God thinks, and if I'm wrong, so be it. At least I'm not using His verses as an excuse to marginalize people. I think He'd like that.

January 13, 201610 yr I did no such thing. I stated the biggest problem we face today is that people expect others to see things from their perspective. An example: You think gays and the LGBT movement is a problem. A large number of people view it as positive. When you lump something like that in with real actual problems, the discussion shuts down before it ever begins. I haven't read much of this thread but to say this is the biggest problem is a stretch
January 13, 201610 yr Author For the record and this will be my last post here. I do not think LGBT is the biggest problem we face. We as a country and the world in general face lots of obstacles that we need work on.
